If you’ve visited MBD Marketing and Events’ About Us page lately, you know how important community is to us. Throughout the years, MBD has focused on not just our own business, but supporting others.
In honor of Black History Month and ongoing discussions about racial injustice in our country, we’ve compiled a list of our favorite Black owned businesses online and on the Front Range.
Boss Blend Coffee
MBD’s President, Christine Forster, loves supporting Boss Blend Coffee, a Black/Latinx owned coffee company that ships their delicious beans nationwide. Check out the limited edition “Lover’s Rock” Valentine’s Day-inspired brew.
Lawrence + Larimer Clothing and Supply Co.
Lawrence + Larimer has self-designed clothing lines for adults (kids coming soon) as well as a line of candles and a screenprinting service. Their brick and mortar location is in Denver’s City Park, but goods are also available for shipping in their online shop.
Bibamba Artisan Single Origin Chocolate
Husband and wife-owned Bibamba produces their chocolate in their Denver shop. The couple owns and manages fair trade, sustainable farms in Cameroon, where they source the cocoa, plantain, and coffee materials that go into their artisan products. Order online for nationwide shipping.
Be a Good Person
As the company name implies, Be a Good Person operates with a focus on promoting positivity and encouraging a brighter future. Their clothing lines for kids, men, and women (including a collab with Colorado favorite Lululemon) are stamped with this positive message. Visit their Denver location for pickup or order online.
Smith + Canon
This Denver-based shop specializes in artisan ice cream (10 decadent flavors to choose from, including combos like cinnamon roll and cheesecake) and micro brews. Shop coffee beans and ice cream for local delivery or stop in for pickup.
Westword Denver winner and 5280 “Best New Bar” Bar Helix has a popular signature drink menu (complete with saucy names) and branded merchandise. As an all-women team, we’re inspired by owner and sommelier Kendra Anderson, whose goals include spreading love and “throwing a party every night” (now that’s something we can get behind).
Anderson believes “we could all use a little bit of extra TLC right now,” so DM your email address to Bar Helix and look for a surprise in your inbox.
Godly Gorgeous offers products for the boss babe in each of us, with beautiful pens, planners, and office decor and clothing with messages like “Priorities: Love. Espresso. Laughs.” We can’t get enough of owner Andrea George’s fun, elegant wares.
xNStudio is based out of Brooklyn, NY, and offers up home and lifestyle accessories “inspired by a globe without borders.” Products include furniture, textiles, decorative pottery, and accessories. Spice up your mask collection with xNStudio’s African print cotton face masks.
Owner Alicia designs and handcrafts jewelry from materials like brass and gold with an emphasis on sustainability. Her nature-inspired designs have earned her a large following and rave reviews. Shop Lingua Nigra for a truly one-of-a-kind jewelry gift.
MBD Marketing and Events encourages you to shop small and support the Black and Latinx business owners who contribute to the vibrance and business creativity of our local and global communities.
