2017 NoCo Easter Keg Hunt Success!

4/18/2017

Picture
My Big Day Events and their Party People Friends had quite a time Easter Weekend with their annual Easter Keg Hunt in downtown Fort Collins, CO!

This year’s favorite Easter party past-time included the following:

* 2 Kick-Off Heats (one at 1:00 PM, and another at 2:30 PM)
* 22 Teams – each consisting of 7-9 people
* Approximately 180 participants
* 15 downtown business stops – plus a couple of others for clue solving shenanigans
* Tons of Fun!!!!

There was lots of excitement downtown as all of our teams searched for businesses, eggs, clues, and of course beer on this hunt!

The Turquoise Teams from both heats came out on top – both winning the prized Keg Trophy! Our first heat winner came in just under 2 hours, and they vow to do the same again next year (this was already their second time as EKH champions)!

This event is always a favorite of ours to put on. We love the excitement and creativity that the teams bring with their costumes and comradery. We also enjoy getting to know all of the downtown businesses and business owners that we work with to make this event a success.

My Big Day Events would like to thank the following downtown partners for participating this year:

* Avagadro’s Number (our favorite kick off spot!!!)
* Paul Wood Florist
* Tony’s Bar
* Enigma Escape Room
* Pinball Jones
* Slyce Pizza
* Scrumpy’s Cider
* The Elegant Pear – fine furnishings
* Bella Blu – women’s boutique
* Lost Prairie Winery
* Pour Brothers
* Prost Brewing
* The Crooked Cup
* Illegal Pete’s (Awesome Ending Spot!!)

We would also like to thank our professional photographers who captured all the fun of our event:
Kyla Jean Photography & Jen West Photography!

You can check out their work in our pictures posted HERE.

Even though we just finished with EKH 2017, we are already looking forward to all the fun next year!
See all you Keg Hunt Bunnies in 2018!

A Hotel California Birthday Party

4/12/2017

Picture
We love it when a client allows us to take an element and create an entire theme and party concept around it!  Recently we were asked to put together a birthday party for 100+ people in less than 3 weeks, with only one item secured.... An Eagles Tribute Band.
We were asked to book all the rentals, catering, sweets, find decor, florals, manage band details, and the bar menu. Done!
Picture
Picture
All of the My Big Day planners got together and discussed what we knew so far... and came up with a concept. We were going to plan the party elements around the Eagles Tribute band and give the entire party a "Hotel California" theme. In everything we managed, we wove in "Spanish Missionary" elements, steering clear of something that looked too much like a fiesta!
Picture

We decided to go with multiple food stations and name each of them after an Eagles song.  In addition to the signs at each food station, we incorporated sheet music from those songs.  We added additional Spanish elements like authentic serving-ware,  authentic maracas, serapes, and brightly colored fabrics.

Palmer Flowers created stunning arrangements for us based off of some photo inspiration we submitted. We had a combination of florals, stones and succulents.

In addition to the decor, we created a tequila bar with amazing variety!  We offered 11 creative margarita's named after the birthday girl's good friends.

The menu for the evening was created by Spice of Life and mirrored our 'Spanish Missionary' theme and station names.  Yum!
Picture

We provided cupcakes from Cupcake Libations that had wonderfully spirited flavors:  Margarita, Chocolate Habenero, and Cinnamon Churro!

Even the restrooms had decor tying the theme together, with original record albums from the Eagles.

Our guests had a great time dancing to "The Long Run" and continued to dance through 3 encores!
