Couples Travel from Across the Country for the Fifth Annual Loveland Valentine's Day Group Wedding2/16/2022
Dozens of couples married or renewed their vows at this year’s Loveland Valentine’s Day Group Wedding and Vow Renewal! My Big Day was honored to put on this event in the Sweetheart City for a fifth year, and the weather was beautiful for this year’s ceremony in front of the LOVE sculpture at the Loveland Visitor’s Center. We were thrilled to have couples join us from all over the country – as far as Florida – and from all parts of Colorado. One of our couples renewed their vows after nearly 40 years together! We love being part of each of our couples’ special days. As always, our event partners are a huge part of this event’s success:
This year’s event received coverage from news outlets statewide. We invite you to view some of the fantastic articles, photo galleries, and videos from this event: Thank you to all of the adventurous couples who joined us for this unique event in 2022! We hope to see you in 2023! Check out the event details here: http://www.valentinesdayinloveland.com/ This event is based in Loveland, CO but serves all of Colorado and surrounding states. And.... we are all over the news! KUNC will be calling some of our amazing couples for interviews and later sharing their story. Below are some other stories you can find about the BIG DAY! Loveland Reporter Herald Fort Collins Coloradoan Telemundo Denver We hope everyone enjoyed our unique and wonderfully special way of celebrating LOVE in the Sweetheart City, Loveland, Colorado!!! An extra thank you to all of our gift bag sponsors, city supporters, On The Rocks Mobile Bar, Todd Harding, Branden Sipes and event planning team: https://www.valentinesdayinloveland.com/partners.html We love our tradition of asking couples who attend our Loveland Valentine's Day Wedding & Vow Renewal Ceremony to submit readings with special meaning to them. We have had some wonderful submissions over the years! Below are some ideas for our future wedding couples when looking for the RIGHT WORDS! "The Gift," Pam Brown “In you are flowers and firelight, stars and songbirds, the scent of summer, the stillness just before dawn. I love you today, dressed in glory. I will love you always- dancing, singing, reading, making, planning, arguing. I will love you cantankerous, and tired, courageous and in terror, joyful, fearful and triumphant. I will love you through all weathers and all change. For all you are is precious to me. And every day I live with you and share your love is a gift to me.” "Slow Me Down, Lord!," Wilferd A. Peterson “Let me look upward into the branches of the towering oak and know that it is great and strong because it grew slowly and well. Slow me down, Lord, and inspire me to send my roots deep into the soil of nature’s enduring values that I may grow towards the stars of my greater destiny.” "New Beginnings," Barbara Crooker “May this be a day of new beginnings the sun, like a fragrant apple; the summer air, soft on your hands as the kiss of a child. May berries melt like honey on your tongue. May your heart rise in wonder at the clouds drifting across the sky. May the trails under your boots be covered in pine quills, let the leaves rain down like memories in the autumn of your heart. May the snow beneath your skis run as fast as watered silk, may the cold air kiss your cheeks, turn them red as summer's roses. May the rivers always flow with their unexpected beauty, the first freshets of snowmelt, the rush of early spring. May you always walk in gladness through whatever path or highway; may you always walk within the golden circle of your love.” "In One Another’s Souls," Rumi “The moment I heard my first love story I started looking for you, not knowing how useless that was. Lovers don’t meet somewhere along the way. They’re in one another’s souls all along.” "Now Touch The Air Softly," William Jay Smith “Now touch the air softly, step gently, one, two... I’ll love you ’till roses are robin’s-egg blue; I’ll love you till gravel is eaten for bread, And lemons are orange, and lavender’s red. Now touch the air softly, swing gently the broom. I’ll love you till windows are all of a room; And the table is laid, And the table is bare, And the ceiling reposes on bottomless air. I’ll love you ‘till heaven rips the stars from his coat, And the moon rows away in a glass-bottomed boat; And Orion steps down like a river below, And earth is ablaze, and the oceans aglow. So touch the air softly, and swing the broom high. We will dust the grey mountains, and sweep the blue sky: And I’ll love you as long as the furrow the plough, As however is ever, and ever is now.” "In Your Light I Learn How to Love," Rumi“ In your light I learn how to love. In your beauty, how to make poems. You dance inside my chest, where no one sees you, but sometimes I do, and that sight becomes this art.” "I Saw Two Clouds at Morning," John G. C. Brainard“ I saw two clouds at morning, tinged by the rising sun, and in the dawn they floated on, and mingled into one; I thought that morning cloud was blest, it moved so sweetly to the west. I saw two summer currents flow smoothly to their meeting, and join their course, with silent force, in peace each other greeting; calm was their course through banks of green, while dimpling eddies played between. Such be your gentle motion, ‘till life’s last pulse shall beat; like summer’s beam and summer’s stream, float on in joy, to meet a calmer sea, where storms shall cease, a purer sky, where all is peace.” "Touched By An Angel," Maya Angelou“ We, unaccustomed to courage exiles from delight live coiled in shells of loneliness until love leaves its high holy temple and comes into our sight to liberate us into life. Love arrives and in its train come ecstasies old memories of pleasure ancient histories of pain. Yet if we are bold, love strikes away the chains of fear from our souls. We are weaned from our timidity In the flush of love's light we dare be brave And suddenly we see that love costs all we are and will ever be. Yet it is only love which sets us free.” "A Wedding Toast," James Bertolino “May your love be firm, And may your dream of a life together be a river between two shores by day bathed in sunlight, and by night illuminated from within. May the heron carry news of you to the heavens, and the salmon bring the sea’s blue grace. May your twin thoughts spiral upward like leafy vines, like fiddle strings in the wind, and be as noble as the Douglas fir. May you never find yourselves back to back without love pulling you around into each other’s arms.” "At Nightfall," Charles Hanson Towne “I need so much the quiet of your love After the day’s loud strife; I need your calm all other things above After the stress of life. I crave the haven that in your dear heart lies, After all toil is done; I need the star shine of your heavenly eyes, After the day’s great sun.” "It Was Said With Such Authority," Gary E. McCormick “I’ll give you the gist of what was said It was about love and the sayer said it had nothing to do with receiving He said love was all about giving plain and simple You could tell this guy walked the talk He made it clear you must love yourself before you can begin to love another The guy reminded me of that lover from Galilee” "Devoted," Lori Eberhai “My heart can be your home, my soul can be your refuge. You can turn to me when you are weak, you can call to me when the way is not clear. I will be your promise and your prayer, I will always be there, Constant and complete. Run to me, reach out for me, and I will love you in a unique and tender way. Bring your love to me, share your love with me, sing your love to me, and I will offer you peace, ease and comfort.” "The Privileged Lovers," Rumi “The moon has become a dancer at this festival of love. This dance of light, this sacred blessing, this divine love, beckons us to a world beyond, only lovers can see with their eyes of fiery passion. They are the chosen ones who have surrendered. Once they were particles of light, now they are the radiant sun. They have left behind the world of deceitful games. They are the privileged lovers who create a new world with their eyes of fiery passion.” "How Do I Love Thee?," Elizabeth Barrett Browning How do I love thee? Let me count the ways. I love thee to the depth and breadth and height My soul can reach, when feeling out of sight For the ends of being and ideal grace. I love thee to the level of every day's Most quiet need, by sun and candle-light. I love thee freely, as men strive for right. I love thee purely, as they turn from praise. I love thee with the passion put to use In my old griefs, and with my childhood's faith. I love thee with a love I seemed to lose With my lost saints. I love thee with the breath, Smiles, tears, of all my life; and, if God choose, I shall but love thee better after death. "[i carry your heart with me(i carry it in]," E.E. Cummings
i carry your heart with me(i carry it in my heart)i am never without it(anywhere i go you go,my dear;and whatever is done by only me is your doing,my darling) i fear no fate(for you are my fate,my sweet)i want no world(for beautiful you are my world,my true) and it’s you are whatever a moon has always meant and whatever a sun will always sing is you here is the deepest secret nobody knows (here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud and the sky of the sky of a tree called life;which grows higher than soul can hope or mind can hide) and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart "Stardust," Lang Leav If you came to me with a face I have not seen, with a name I have never heard, I would still know you. Even if centuries separated us, I would still feel you. Somewhere between the sand and the stardust, through every collapse and creation, there is a pulse that echoes of you and I. When we leave this world, we give up all our possessions and our memories. Love is the only thing we take with us. It is all we carry from one life to the next. 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. It was a joy to witness their beautiful wedding ceremony on top of the Elizabeth Hotel! Classic Elegance with a Colorful Twist Eriq and Ashley chose The Elizabeth Hotel as the backdrop for their wedding because of its classic and elegant style. Ashley had dreamed of having their first look photos on the grand staircase, and her dream did not disappoint -- it was a bucket-list shot, for sure! The Rooftop Terrace was a perfect mix of classic elegance that Eriq and Ashley spiced up with a mix of colors that fit their bright personalities. Their color palette of oranges and deep purples blended nicely above the beginning changing fall colors in the Old Town trees below. Friends and family were treated to a beautiful ceremony that included deeply personal touches like a live musical rendition of “Two Men in Love” performed by friends, favorite movie quotes, and personal vows. It was intimate, beautiful, and Eriq and Ashley all the way! Block One - Old Town Fun After the ceremony, guests made their way to the reception that was held at Block One Events, north of Old Town. While guests enjoyed a refreshing cocktail hour, Eriq and Ashley and their wedding party made their way throughout Old Town Square on a Bar Crawl to a couple of their favorite Old Town spots. They enjoyed shots and drinks at Lucky Joes and Old Elk Distillery. Eriq and Ashley had originally planned for their reception to be held at the Agave Room above the Rio, but unfortunately, a fire in the facility made that impossible. Fortunately, The Rio was still able to cater their reception at Block One. Guests were treated to Rio tacos and nachos for dinner! Guests spent the evening dancing, drinking, and celebrating! Eriq’s son, Kobe, kept the fun and music going all night long as the event DJ. We were thrilled that Eriq and Ashley asked us to be a part of their Big Day! It was an honor that they trusted us to help them navigate all of the uncertainty that came with planning a wedding during the time of covid and with all of the last-minute changes that the fire at the Rio threw at them. They met every challenge with grace and patience.
Congratulations, Eriq and Ashley! in the Sweetheart City: LOVELAND, CO Loveland's Annual Valentine's Day Group Wedding Sunday, February 14th, 2021 Chapungu Sculpture Park, Centerra, Loveland CO Ceremony Times: 4pm and 5pm * Officiated by Todd Harding Many couples – including some of our My Big Day couples – are opting to elope rather than postpone or cancel weddings due to Covid-19. We did the work and searched lists of unique elopement locations in Colorado and Wyoming – here are our top 5 picks for each state.
2. Maroon Bells (Aspen) – These incredible mountains are Colorado’s most photographed spot. What to know: You must reserve the amphitheater for a $200 fee to have your ceremony at the Bells. Slots are released a year in advance, and regular Bells guests are still allowed to visit the site, so weekdays are your best bet. Plan for afternoon thunderstorms in the summer. If you want fall colors, aim for September. Consider going early for stunning sunrise ceremony photos and no tourists photobombing your wedding. If you have urgent questions about your wedding or conditions at the Bells, you’ll need to call the ranger station. 3. Denver Botanic Gardens at York Street (Denver) – The gardens offer a wide range of backdrops, from water and rose gardens to greenhouses. Another perk: The downtown Denver location makes this a convenient site for couples. What to know: Fees vary by location in the gardens, and it can be pricey, but you will save on travel fees from your florist, photographer, and officiant. You can bring your own alcohol for an intimate couples’ champagne toast. Click HERE to submit an inquiry. 4. Pikes Peak (Colorado Springs) – This scenic mountaintop offers a view all the way to Kansas on clear days. What to know: No need to hike – weather permitting, you can drive to the top of Pikes Peak. No permits and no fees, but keep in mind that tourists can come and go throughout your ceremony and no décor is allowed. 5. Guanella Pass (Georgetown) – A valley with breathtaking blue-green hills and water features. This is a fantastic backdrop for moody photos that are even more stunning during cloudy summer afternoons. What to know: No permits, no fees, no reservations. Wyoming 1. St. Alban’s Chapel (Centennial) – Historic, open-air chapel surrounded by beautiful scenery, including a lake. What to know: The chapel is usually accessible only in the late summer. It must be reserved for a small fee through St. Matthew’s Cathedral. Despite being called a chapel, the structure is very old and not quite a building, so there are no restrooms. You will not be allowed to decorate the structure because of its age, but you won’t need to! 2. Lake Marie (Medicine Bow National Forest) – A beautiful, green-blue lake with a snowy mountain backdrop. What to know: This location is drive-up friendly, but only accessible during the late summer when Highway 130 is open. Click HERE to see whether the area is currently open. No permits, no fees, no guaranteed reservations. 3. Schwabacher Landing (Grand Teton National Park) – A spectacular viewpoint on Snake River with easy access to the water and reflections of the majestic Teton Mountains. What to know: Snowy spring and winter weather can make the gravel road impassable, so plan for a summer or fall ceremony. Bring your camera for wildlife sightings. No permits, no fees, no guaranteed reservations and no decorations allowed. Note that the area is popular with fishermen and tourists snapping photos. 4. The Wedding Tree (Jackson Hole) – Aptly named, the tree provides a natural arch to get married under with a view of the Grand Tetons in the background. What to know: You will need to take a trail from the parking lot (about 5 minutes), and then get off the trail to access the tree, so carry your heels and put them on at the tree. Camping is no longer allowed. A permit is required; contact the Bridger-Teton National Forest Office at (307) 739-5500. Aim for a fall or summer event so the roads aren’t snowed out. 5. Albany County Courthouse (Laramie) – If the wilderness isn’t your style, consider getting married at the Albany County Courthouse in Laramie and taking photos in front of the picturesque building. What to know: You will need to make your own arrangements for an officiant. If you would like to get married in the courthouse, there are several judges who perform marriage ceremonies, or you may bring your own ordained minister; contact information can be found HERE. As with any wedding in Wyoming, a marriage license is required prior to the ceremony. Ceremony fees vary by officiant. Same-sex marriages are allowed under Wyoming law. You don’t have to cancel your wedding if you were planning to get married this year. We believe the only ingredients required for a wedding are two people who want to spend their lives together. If you look this location up in your smartphone, you will likely find a picture of love - the love between Jen & Antonio! In reality, these are the coordinates for the YMCA of the Rockies in Estes Park, and it was the beautiful site for the delightful reception celebrating the marriage of our clients, Jen and Antonio Garcia. Jen is a close My Big Day friend, and we were ecstatic to be a part of her Big Day! The day’s celebrations started in a cabin, aptly named “Blessings” on the YMCA site. Family members and the wedding party, met there to prepare for the nuptials at a local Catholic church, Our Lady of the Mountains, as well as to gather to surround both Jen and Antonio with love. There were pictures, primping, hugs, and mimosas. After the beautiful ceremony, guests were invited to gather in the large ballroom on the YMCA site. There they were served delicious drinks at an open bar, as well as homemade appetizers and snacks while they waited for the wedding party to return from a quick after ceremony photo shoot. The evening was full of good food, drink, and entertainment provided by Suit & Tie DJ services. The highlight of the evening had to be during the speeches when Maid of Honor and Sister of the Bride turned her speech into a rap, complete with background singers. The crowd was enthralled as she “rocked the mic like a vandal”! Guests danced the night away, and made several trips to the photobooth provided by Blue Orchid Photography. The decor that the bride and groom chose for their reception site was full of personal and familial touches. There was a memory table filled with photos of family members and important friends who had passed. Their guestbook was a beautifully honed piece of wood with their wedding date and coordinates for guests to sign. They had a date jar and more photos of special dates in their relationship on display as well. It was very evident that the couple’s family and friends were a very important part of their relationship and life together. We absolutely loved being able to be a part of this couple’s big day - the fact that Jen is a close My Big Day friend made it even more special and fun!
