Things don’t always go as planned The original ceremony was supposed to take place among the statues and sculptures at the Chapungu Sculpture Park. However, sub-zero temperatures forced MBD Marketing & Events to make the difficult decision to move the 4pm and 5pm ceremonies indoors. This decision was made out of abundance of caution for the participants’ safety and health. Right before the 4pm ceremony was set to start, an unfamiliar sound interrupted the mic checks and check-in process - the sound of rushing water. The cold weather had produced frozen pipes and a water main break in the front of the store that had been converted into the wedding venue! The MBD Marketing & Events team jumped into “bucket brigade” mode, and kept the registration area from flooding until the facilities crew and Loveland Fire Department could get the break under control. The team and crews worked so quickly and quietly, that many of the wedding couples were unaware of the emergency! Plan B is for Beautiful Decorations, hearts, and lights helped to transform the old New York & Co. store into a beautiful wedding chapel. Couples were ushered in and directed to their socially distanced ceremony spots by the smooth sounds of local musician, Branden Sipes. Todd Harding served as the Officiant for both ceremonies. Couples shared their personal wedding vows among thoughtful wisdom and romantic readings during the ceremonies. Some couples shared vows for the first time, while others renewed their original vows from 40 year prior! At the end of the ceremony, Todd pronounced the couples as married or still married, and the celebration moved out in front of the store where event partner, On The Rocks Mobile Bar - and plenty of mobile heaters, were waiting to offer each of the couples a congratulatory toast, complete with signature cocktails! A Team Effort This event wouldn’t have been possible without the partnership and cooperation of a team of individuals and organizations.

https://www.pinterest.com/MyBigDayEvents/education-k-12/ My Big Day has been privileged to be working on a DUI campaign funded by a Colorado state grant, through Partners and their incredible efforts in the area of prevention education. The initiative is called No DUI Larimer. At the end of May 2020 – immediately following weeks of stay-at-home orders – Colorado State Patrol reported that impairment-related deaths in spring 2020 were double those of spring 2019. As of summer 2020, alcohol- and marijuana-related crashes were in fact up 32 percent from the same time in 2019. Impairment-related fatal crashes had doubled. Colorado State Patrol and representatives of MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) speculate that mental health struggles, a shaky economy, and relatively empty roads during the stay-at-home order contributed to increasing DUI rates. In all, 203 people were killed by suspected drunk drivers in 2020, up from 176 in 2019. Denver-based attorneys Hebets & McCallin reported that alcohol sales not tied to the hospitality business went up 24 percent in 2020, with sales of spirits with high alcohol content increasing even more, by 27 percent. The pandemic has brought challenges for DUI enforcement. Many police departments statewide suspended the use of breathalyzer BAC (Blood Alcohol Content) tests due to safety concerns about COVID-19 spread in droplets from suspects’ lungs. As of February 2021, agencies continue to rely on blood alcohol testing, with mixed results. Some suspects have argued in court that they have a right to breathalyzer testing rather than blood testing, to varying responses from judges. However, Colorado law calls for automatic license suspension for drivers who refuse a blood alcohol test; with breathalyzers no longer an option, many suspected impaired drivers have lost their licenses by refusal. Despite ongoing restrictions on bar and restaurant capacities, the pandemic appears to have had little impact on reducing impaired driving rates – in some cases, just the opposite. If you or someone you know is struggling with the financial, mental or emotional effects of the pandemic, and/or substance use, visit the Colorado Office of Behavioral Health online for a searchable directory of substance use experts, mental health professionals, and crisis support resources. If you see swerving or other signs of impaired driving, call 911. Impaired driving is an emergency. Make the Call. Contact MBD Marketing & Events

Now, we’re taking some time to really get to know our special 2021 MBD wedding couple - Eriq & Ashley. They have a fun and exciting love story, and we can’t wait to see it come full circle in September when they tie the knot on top of The Elizabeth Hotel in front of family and friends. We sent a series of questions to both Eriq & Ashley and here are some of their responses: How did you two meet? Eriq: Well we met on tinder. I was over tinder but decided to go back through my matches to see if I had missed anyone worthwhile, and there she was! She had orange hair in the pic, and orange is my fav color so I took it as a sign, lol. I hit her up, and we went on our 1st date at the now non-existent Enzios. We pretty much laughed the whole time, and hit it off pretty great, and agreed to more dates. I had to go to Tour de Fat the next day because- obviously - but she had her son Zep, so she couldn't make it. We snapchatted all day and it made her laugh, so that's cool. Ashley: We met on Tinder, and by the time that we set up a date I was almost finished with the tinder experience. We started our relationship on a last hope, lol. What was your first impression? Ashley: First impression was shock, because I actually finally liked the guy I was on a date with! I remember his amazing skin color and how nice his smile was. I could also carry a nice conversation with him, unlike my other Tinder dates.
Why do you love Ashley? Why do I love Ash....sheesh, how long do you want this to get?? I love Ash for who she is, what she's accomplished, and what she's capable of in the future. She's my person, my ultimate ride or die, and even though we can never ever ever play monopoly together, we make a really great team! Why do you love Eriq? I love Eriq because he is my other half. He will always have my back and will love me endlessly. He accepts me for who I am and loves me despite my flaws and weaknesses. What are your honeymoon plans? Eriq: Our honeymoon is kinda cliche. We plan on going to Greece or somewhere in the Mediterranean, and chill for about ten days or so. Ashley: Hopefully, if things go as planned, we will be spending our Honeymoon in Greece! But not before we celebrate Tour De Fat!! So excited to party the day after the wedding as well for one of the biggest events that Fort Collins hosts! Contact MBD Marketing & Events
