by Carrie Stadtmueller If you are planning an event with a Mardi Gras or NOLA flair, then look no further than J. Gumbo’s Cajun and Creole Restaurant to fulfill your culinary dreams! This Fort Collins franchise, located in the Council Tree Shopping Center (by Super Target on Harmony Rd), offers some of the region’s best Cajun tastes – for in store dining and event catering. Managed by David Slocum, the Fort Collins J. Gumbo team works diligently to bring the most authentic Cajun and Creole flavors and traditional meals to their customers. They offer a variety of tasty favorites such as home-style Gumbo, spicy VooDoo Chicken, colorful BumbleBee Stew, and a crowd pleaser – honey cornbread. An added plus: their website offers nutritional values for each dish in addition to vegetarian AND gluten free options for customers to choose from. My Big Day, LLC has had the privilege of working with Dave and his catering team at a large corporate event. Dave was easy going, flexible, and provided excellent service. He brought a team of hardworking and friendly servers. The event schedule had to be modified throughout the evening, and the J Gumbo's team rose to the occasion. Not only did they provide friendly service, the food was delicious and they offered many extras such as fruit and dessert with their Cajun cuisine! For our fellow event planners, or corporate party coordinators, It's worth mentioning that J Gumbo's can cater a party from 3 to 300! My Big Day friends and family members would also say it's worth mentioning that carry-out is a breeze and their pricing is AFFORDABLE! J. Gumbo’s is a national chain, but you can reach our local establishment at (970) 672-8375. You can visit their website at www.jgumbos.com -The My Big Day Event Planning Team The My Big Day team recently interviewed Taylor with Pelican Lakes and Water Valley, Windsor's event center, wedding site and golf course. Whether you picture an indoor or outdoor reception Pelican Lakes can accommodate your dream. Looking for a beach wedding in the mountains? The two are hard to find, but there is a sandy beach and small island, suitable for wedding vows in front of your guests (up to 180 people).
The setting was perfect for this couple's country ranch themed wedding... Bruce and Sherry got hitched at Ellis Ranch in Loveland. My Big Day was honored to be selected as the wedding planners for this fun day! Bruce and Sherry were surrounded with love every moment of their Big Day. From the horse drawn carriage, to the photo booth, to the wagon used as a gift table... the little touches made all the difference! Recently My Big Day visited the Kress Cinema Lounge to learn more about their event space for our clients. The owners, Ron & Linde Thompson have done a great job making this space in historic downtown Greeley a desirable place to host a party, or to go for a fun date night out! As an event rental option, the Kress Cinema Lounge offers multiple spaces broken out into rentals: the Fireplace Lounge, The Art Deco Bar, and the Theatre. You can also rent the entire facility by hour, by half day, or for the entire day. The entire space can hold up to 300 people. In our opinion the rental rate is affordable, and the space is unique and fun! My Big Day has assisted with a holiday party at this location, and the staff was very accommodating. If you are researching venues for your next birthday party, holiday party, company event, shower or wedding, we highly recommend the Kress Cinema Lounge! Lately My Big Day has received a number of requests for referrals for gluten-free bakeries. Conscious brides and grooms, and thoughtful party hosts think of their guests when planning an event menu. Often you may have guests that are vegetarian, vegan, or have allergies towards nuts, dairy, eggs, dyes, etc. You may have guests who have certain religious beliefs that don't allow them to eat pork, or all food they eat must be Kosher. While chances are, you won't have to meet all of these requests at your event, there is a growing number of folks who are gluten-free.
No event – no matter how well-planned and well-run – is immune to the occasional crisis or disaster. My Big Day believes a good event planner will be able to think on his or her feet for the small stuff, and have a solid crisis plan in place for dealing with the biggies. You can’t possibly expect to plan for every type of crisis, but a little advance planning will go a long way to ensure that you can handle whatever comes your way!
If you are well prepared, chances are you won't need the Plan B. But that one time when everything goes wrong, you'll be glad you were prepared!
