3. Order delivery or grab some takeout for a date night in Bring the restaurant date night to you. Order in delivery or takeout from your favorite romantic restaurant - even fancy steakhouses and seafood restaurants are offering takeout during the pandemic. If you want to go all out, recreate the restaurant atmosphere at home with tablecloths, your best plates and glassware, and some candles and flowers to set the mood. If you don’t live with your partner, you can still enjoy the meal together via video chat. You can even surprise your S.O. (significant other) with the romantic meal by ordering the food ahead of time to be delivered to them. Most restaurants with their own delivery system will offer this, as do Uber Eats’ share system and Grubhub. 4. Shop local gifts Show your partner and struggling local businesses some love this year by choosing unique gifts from a small shop in your area. If you’re worried about going inside, many small businesses are offering curbside pickup, and some have even set up online ordering with shipping. If you live in NoCo, check out MBD’s local-centric Valentine’s Day gifts Pinterest board: https://www.pinterest.com/MyBigDayEvents/valentines-day-gifts/ full of unique products from Loveland, Fort Collins, Windsor, and more. 5. Stream a virtual concert Virtual concerts are still happening - more than ever. If concerts are a favorite date night pastime for you, now you can recreate the music fan experience at home. You can now easily search Google for a list of upcoming virtual concerts. SongKick also has a great list you can bookmark: https://www.songkick.com/live-stream-concerts of live streaming concerts with times. Clear the living room for slow dancing (or a mosh pit, if that’s more your vibe), have an in-home concert “tailgate,” and have your favorite concert drinks on hand. 6. Make chocolate fondue Chocolate and romance go hand-in-hand, and nothing is more romantic than melted chocolate with fruit or sweets. You may not feel comfortable going to your favorite fondue restaurant this year, but you can bring the fondue experience home. You can buy a fondue pot online for as little as $15 these days, grab a box of strawberries, melt a bag of chocolate chips, and voilà.
8. Send Valentines through snail mail Maybe you’re in a long distance relationship, or maybe you just want to surprise your partner with a note or two left around the house. Either way, handwritten notes are a romantic tradition that go a long way in today’s world of text messages and Snapchats. Take your time writing (practice that cursive?) and, if you’re mailing your Valentine, use your nicest stationery or take some time to personalize what you have. Doodles or notes in the margins will make these keepsakes even more memorable, and you’ll love looking back on them together down the road. 9. Serve your loved one breakfast in bed Surprise breakfast in bed is basically never a bad idea, if you ask us. Sneak out of bed early to prepare your loved one’s favorite meal (pizza is fine for breakfast, by the way) and surprise them with it. Alternatively, cook breakfast together, then head back to bed to enjoy your culinary creations and spend the day being couch bed potatoes. 10. Connect virtually If you can’t be together this Valentine’s Day, carve out some time to connect virtually. Phone calls, video calls, and virtual activities like an online class or Netflix movie party are an easy way to show someone you’re thinking of them. Other ideas include eating a meal or sharing a glass of wine “together,” live streaming the same concert, or solving a virtual escape room. 11. Get outdoors together Coloradoans are known for our love of the outdoors, so take to one of your local trails or head up to the mountains with your partner for a romantic outing in nature. Hold hands, have intimate conversations, take in the scenery, practice teamwork, and boost your health all in one date. Contact MBD Marketing & Events

As restaurants and bars start the reopening process, there are four new establishments ready to jump into the mix. We’ve pooled together a list of the new Old Town bars and restaurants that you are going to want to make plans to check out once the pandemic is a thing of the past! The Bar District Located in what was once local favorite, The Drunken Monkey, The Bar District is a new entertainment concept that brings together four bars under one roof. Three of the bars are open concept - one a sports bar, another for cocktails and frozen drinks, and the third specializes in liquor infusions. A fourth bar is available to be rented out for private parties. The newly renovated facility boasts of a stage, a dance floor, and an extensive patio - great for smaller covid-capacity numbers! Brothers Bar & Grill A Midwest chain that has taken over the former Old Chicago’s building, Brothers Bar & Grill serves tasty casual American cuisine in a party atmosphere! After acquiring the building, chain owners got to work completely gutting and remodeling it into a space of their own. They added handmade woodworking elements to give the facility a new bar and English pub feel. This neighborhood bar concept hosts daily drink specials, complete with personal pitchers of alcoholic concoctions. They also serve their famous $2 cheeseburger special on Tuesdays. Brothers Bar & Grill offers Covid-Safe dining options with two patios - front and back of the house. Make plans to join your bros for drinks and eats here soon! Rove & Element This dual concept entertainment venue consists of an “elevated lunch and dinner restaurant” and an upscale nightclub and dance floor. Located in what was formerly The Mainline, Rove & Element offer entertaining options for multiple fancies. The lower floor hosts Rove - a restaurant offering American style cuisine and drinks. Element is located upstairs. Element seeks to attract a more mature and sophisticated crowd, by offering VIP areas and bottle service. This new venue will allow guests to make an evening of it, with both dinner and dancing! Penrose Taphouse & Eatery The newest business to open at The Exchange in Old Town is Penrose Taphouse & Eatery. Owned by the same group as DC Oakes, a brewery in south Fort Collins, Penrose Taphouse & Eatery sits on the south side of The Exchange. They offer a Colorado-inspired menu, DC Oakes brews, and a rotation of other local breweries. Penrose Taphouse & Eatery is named after one of Colorado’s most well-known entrepreneurs, philanthropists, and historical figures - Spencer Penrose. The owners have tried to capture his spirit, work ethic, and sense of community in their facility. Their location at The Exchange is perfect for patio Covid-Safe dining. They offer two patio options, and many family-friendly dining options and specials. This makes Penrose the perfect spot for a date night dinner or fun family outing! This pop-up, family-friendly entertainment venue was born out of our (My Big Day’s) response to the Coronavirus. We wanted to build a safe entertainment option for families to take advantage of during our safer-at-home orders, while at the same time, support a deserving non-profit and local businesses that were impacted by all of the coronavirus closures. The pop-up Drive In fundraiser achieves both of these goals! We are so excited about this summer opportunity, and we know you are too. We’ve come up with a few ideas to make your family’s trip to our Drive In safe, successful, and fun! First off – planning ahead will ensure that your family has fun. Because we are operating during a time of social distancing, pre-planning and organization MUST include thoughts of safety. Our safety guidelines are spelled out on our website here within our Code of Conduct: https://www.lovelanddrivein.com/code-of-conduct.html Please make sure you read through this before your show. Tips for more fun at the Drive-In Movies! Here are a few more tips that we have compiled to help ensure that you and your family are comfortable and have as much fun as possible. 1. Arrive early to grab the “perfect” spot. Our team will be helping to direct traffic to their assigned spots. Arriving early will ensure that you won’t be stuck in a long line of cars, and you’ll be placed closer to the big screen. The Loveland Drive In will allow entry 45 minutes before the movie call time. MBD Pro-Tip: Most Drive-Ins are requiring that you purchase your tickets online in advance. This is our policy, and it helps us restrict capacity to provide for safe social distance between cars. 2. Consider bringing your own portable radio and extra batteries. We are encouraging attendees to turn their cars off during the movie – for environmental and safety reasons. While you can broadcast your sound through your car’s radio, you can avoid the possibility of running down your car’s battery by using a portable radio that runs on batteries. This will be an ever better alternative if you should choose to set up chairs in your pick-up bed or in front of your vehicle. 3. Bring body essentials. Don’t forget to pack the bug spray, sunscreen, and plenty of water. Our experience is different because we can show movies during the day. However, due to the nature of this activity – you will be out, exposed in the sun. Don’t forget to lather up with the sunscreen so you don’t leave with a nasty burn! 4. Satisfy your hunger! We encourage you to bring money and have your phone ready so that you can order some tasty treats from our food and beverage vendors on site. Some proceeds from food sales will also be benefiting our non-profit, Thompson Education Foundation. You may also bring food with you. Please make sure that you follow our food/beverage guidelines if you choose to bring your own treats. MBD Pro Tip: Check out our vendor partners listed for each showing. They will have links that you can use to order food online. Review their menus before you arrive so you can plan ahead. 5. Wear appropriate and comfy clothes. There will be limited shade, and you will be sitting in a parking lot for the duration of the movie. Make sure you are wearing comfortable, seasonally appropriate clothing. Also – don’t forget, even summer evenings can get chilly in Colordao! If you are attending the late show, you might want to pack a jacket or some blankets. 6. Comfortable seating options. We know some of you will watch the movies from the comfort of your car, but we also encourage you to pack camping chairs, mats, pillows, and blankets. 7. Have a bathroom plan. There will be bathroom facilities available on site. However, we also know that some may not be comfortable using public restrooms at this time. Planning ahead, and trying to go before you arrive can lessen your chances of having to use the public restroom during the event. We want to assure all participants that the public facilities will be routinely cleaned throughout the day. Packing extra hand sanitizer and wipes aren’t a bad idea either. 8. Relax and have fun! We are so excited to bring this fun event to all Northern Colorado families! This event is designed to encourage fun and bonding for families. Relax, enjoy, and have fun at the movies! Health & Safety Reminders My Big Day wants this to be a fun and memorable event for you and your family, and therefore, your safety is of utmost importance to us. The Loveland Drive-In was built around all state and local guidelines regarding COVID-19. While we are keeping up to date on all law changes and how they affect events, we kindly ask that you follow all guidelines and event rules, so that everyone can have a healthy, safe, and enjoyable time. “My Big Date” reveals Valentine’s Day brunch and brew menu
Loveland, Colorado February 2, 2016 – In its third year, My Big Date represents three outings on Valentine’s Day weekend in Loveland, Colorado including a brunch and brew tours and spirits tours. The Brunch & Brew tours featured a brunch at Loveland, Colorado’s award-winning Grimm Brother’s Brewhouse. Catering will be provided by Taste, a Loveland-based catering company owned and operated by Vicky Bittner. Bittner sat down with the brewers at Grimm Brothers Brewhouse to create a special four-course Valentine’s Day brunch menu for My Big Date. The first course is a fresh fruit streusel served with The Pack of Scoundrels, a German style beer that originated in Hannover, Germany in 1526. It’s a crisp, light malt beer with a bouquet of spices. The second course features a wild mushroom Parmesan polenta with prosciutto benedict covered in a green chili hollandaise with balsamic reduction. This rich dish will be served with Liquid Zoo, a Weizenbock style beer that’s big and malty with some Hefeweizen characteristics of clove and banana. Things will get spicy during the third course that features hash brown potatoes served with sriracha ketchup and an ancho chili honey. This course is paired with a GABF medal winner – Snow Drop Kottbusser Ale, a 7.1% ABV beer that goes with everything, but is an especially nice complement to fiery foods. Brunch will finish with a caramelized pineapple jalapeno bread pudding served with maple syrup. This dessert has been paired with a Bleeding Heart S’mores Porter. Every year Grimm Brothers Brewhouse brews a unique Bleeding Heart beer in celebration of Valentine’s Day, an important day in Loveland, Colorado, the Sweetheart City. Loveland, Colorado January 4, 2016 – The brainchild of three Loveland-based, female owned business owners, My Big Date is an opportunity for couples to experience the Sweetheart City on Valentine’s Day. In its third year, My Big Date represents three various outings on Valentine’s Day weekend in Loveland, Colorado including a brunch and brew tour, a spirits tour and, new this year, a VIP brunch and brew tour. “Loveland is the perfect place to visit on Valentine’s Day and we’ve put together packages that celebrate some of the best this town has to offer,” said Christine Forster, founder of My Big Day Events, LLC, an event planning company in Loveland. The founders of My Big Date polled last year’s participants and 100% of guests who responded stated that they would take the tour again. “We think that’s a pretty compelling endorsement of My Big Date,” said Forster.
