As a self-proclaimed socialite, I'm always looking to find what's going on around town. Some of my regular go-to places to research events are newspaper event calendars, HeidiTown.com, EL Events, city websites, Facebook, Z Events, Visit Fort Collins, and more! My Big Day specializes in creative events. But when we're not planning events, we're attending them! The summer is heating up, and there is so much to do! Here are a couple noteworthy happenings: ...and so much more! Have a great weekend! Did you know it's National Wedding Registry Month? There are tons of contests out there for brides-to-be. Confession: I am obsessed with the catalog from UNCOMMON GOODS! Have you heard of this company yet? Many friends and family members of mine have received gifts from this ubber cool company! Much of what they sell is up-cycled or eco friendly. My husband discovered my coveted catalog in my catalog basket and swiped it, finding the most perfect personalized gift for me! You never know how much you need the things you never knew existed. Shop there for your BIG Day today! Check it out! Thanks to a fantastic article from Ask Men, a mens magazine, here are the results from some ideas compiled on best gifts for your woman on Valentine's Day! The gifts listed appeal to each of her 5 senses. Choose the sense below you'd like to appeal to, and you will find a fantastic list of ideas for your girl! If you haven't yet heard about the latest social media craze, then you might live in a closet. Pinterest is keeping woman up late at night, increasing the electric bill with hours of 'pinning', and is helping moms feel like underachievers all across America! Pinterest is for the crafty and culinary experts at heart. It is a way to catalog all the things you'd like to have, make, and wish you had the time to do. I, myself, am addicted. I find that I'm 'liking' and 'pinning' things for the kids I don't have and recipes I'll never make. But nevermind all that. For businesses, Pinterest can be a fantastic way to promote your products, simply by listing them and allowing other to like or pin them. On my Pinterest page I've created multiple pages for the events I host. It's a great way to keep track of fun ideas for years to come and for future attendees to get a feel for the silliness. However... you will NEVER see my secrets posted on Pinterest. I may be creative, but I'm not crazy. You have to attend a MY BIG DAY event to appreciate the little things that the internet just can't give you! If you are anything like me, you enjoy finding unique gifts for loved ones that say, "I put some thought into this purchase." I start my holiday shopping FAR in advance. With constant reminders about good deals, I find myself purchasing thoughtfully as far as 6 months out. Groupon, Living Social, Deal Chicken, Seize the Deal... they all have something of value to offer. You just have to do your research. I have purchased facials, dinner certificates, headphones, hot rollers, car detailing, earrings, photography packages and more! I willingly sign up for the alerts, and first thing in the morning I have a handful of deals to rifle through. For those who appreciate high fashion at discount prices, you are most likely already aware of the designer sale alerts you can register for. Ideeli, Gilt, HauteLook, and MyHabit, are just a few to name. Thanks to the daily alerts I receive from these sites, my mom and sister have received some fabulous designer clothing and jewelry. The stockings will be filled with more this year! Santa is very good to my family and friends! Now that we are in full-swing of the holiday season, the craft shows are popping up left and right! For TRULY unique gifts, you can always go for handmade goodies from local artisans and crafters. Happy Shopping! So often the focus of a wedding is on the bride. The dress... hair... make-up.... flowers... the ring.... Of course we focus on her, she has so many options and just ONE DAY to put it all out there. This is the day she's been waiting for. Well, so has he. I recently came across a website that celebrates the dude in your life... the groom. The website is focused on men only and it's called 'The MAN Registry.' Brilliant! This one site allows you to create a registry for the groom, shop the registry, research places for bachelor parties and the like, and even do your own search for wedding vendors in your area. The Man Registry was created in 2007, but I only just found it. Where have I been? If you haven't checked it out yet, I highly recommend you get on it! The Man Registry. com Already married? Bookmark this website anyway for creative manly gifts for your guy!
I am proud to be a participating vendor in this AMAZING sale! Cherry Lime Boutique in Loveland, CO has figured out how to make a community boutique simply thrive! They rented a space in a building with tons of drive-by traffic, so their visibility is great, but historically the businesses in this building have struggled. Somehow Alyssa and Michelle (store owners) have come up with an amazing concept, and have given new life to not only the building they rent from, but to the community in general. No matter what your crafting skill, Cherry Lime Boutique will sell it. No more buying my birthday and holiday gifts at Target... I'd rather buy from local artisans and crafters! Stop by their store at 402 E. Eisenhower in Loveland. This Saturday, Cherry Lime Boutique is hosting their annual "Christmas in July Sale" at the Fort Collins Hilton. This event is so large, that we will take up 2 huge ballrooms, and the entry way! Over 50 vendors are participating. If you are smart, you'll think about getting a head start on your Christmas shopping, and even purchase some birthday, shower or wedding gifts for the upcoming events in your life. Shopping local feels oh, so good. And who doesn't love an original gift with a story behind it? Come find that gift and plenty of stories at the Hilton in Fort Collins this Saturday. Details: Place: Fort Collins Hilton, 425 W. Prospect Rd. Date: July 28th 2012 Time: 9am-4pm Cost: Admission is FREE! |
