So often the focus of a wedding is on the bride. The dress... hair... make-up.... flowers... the ring.... Of course we focus on her, she has so many options and just ONE DAY to put it all out there. This is the day she's been waiting for. Well, so has he. I recently came across a website that celebrates the dude in your life... the groom. The website is focused on men only and it's called 'The MAN Registry.' Brilliant! This one site allows you to create a registry for the groom, shop the registry, research places for bachelor parties and the like, and even do your own search for wedding vendors in your area. The Man Registry was created in 2007, but I only just found it. Where have I been? If you haven't checked it out yet, I highly recommend you get on it! The Man Registry. com Already married? Bookmark this website anyway for creative manly gifts for your guy!
One of my clients invited me to her bridal shower and I thought long and hard about what to give her as a gift. Of course, you should ALWAYS give something off of the registry, but a personal gift is always nice too. Then I thought back to a gift that I was given when I got married, and just knew I should pass on the wisdom from my dear friend. My girlfriend, Monica, is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in St. Louis, MO. She happens to swear by a particular book, and has suggested it to clients, and friends. It's called, "The Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work." It's by John M. Gottman. The book is helpful to those both in a relationship trying to correct things, and to those soon to be married, or just married. Throughout the relationship industry, this book comes highly recommended... therapists, counselors, and Oprah all agree, it's a must have reference book. Then I got thinking about books in general and what great gifts they can make. The best books I have ever read have all been given to me, or were 'on loan.' I wondered out to my favorite bookstore, Anthology Book Co. in downtown Loveland, CO to search for this book, and they had a couple copies--- both new, and used! (Don't you just love independent, locally owned book stores!) I can't help but get lost in all the possibilities of books I could read to better myself, learn more, or get lost in! What better gift to give and to pass on than a book purchased with love?!?
With every wedding comes tradition. With every tradition comes a twist. Table favors have long been a common tradition as a way of saying 'thank you' to guests. Today brides and grooms are more creative than ever! Crafting is not only a skill it's an art form. Now seen in multiple magazines, websites, blogs and tv shows... you can craft your way to the most creative and thoughtful table favors ever. Gone are the simple bells you'd ring with a kiss or simple chocolates set on your dessert plate. Couples are finding the most unique ways to thank guests, as well as, present the token of their thanks. Personalized gifts, jars of homemade preserves, mini pies, candy bars, the list goes on! Below are some photos of table favors I found on the now "GO TO" place for all things wedding, Pinterest. In the search area, just type in 'table favor' and you will find an amazing list of ideas for your BIG DAY! I am proud to be a participating vendor in this AMAZING sale! Cherry Lime Boutique in Loveland, CO has figured out how to make a community boutique simply thrive! They rented a space in a building with tons of drive-by traffic, so their visibility is great, but historically the businesses in this building have struggled. Somehow Alyssa and Michelle (store owners) have come up with an amazing concept, and have given new life to not only the building they rent from, but to the community in general. No matter what your crafting skill, Cherry Lime Boutique will sell it. No more buying my birthday and holiday gifts at Target... I'd rather buy from local artisans and crafters! Stop by their store at 402 E. Eisenhower in Loveland. This Saturday, Cherry Lime Boutique is hosting their annual "Christmas in July Sale" at the Fort Collins Hilton. This event is so large, that we will take up 2 huge ballrooms, and the entry way! Over 50 vendors are participating. If you are smart, you'll think about getting a head start on your Christmas shopping, and even purchase some birthday, shower or wedding gifts for the upcoming events in your life. Shopping local feels oh, so good. And who doesn't love an original gift with a story behind it? Come find that gift and plenty of stories at the Hilton in Fort Collins this Saturday. Details: Place: Fort Collins Hilton, 425 W. Prospect Rd. Date: July 28th 2012 Time: 9am-4pm Cost: Admission is FREE! |
