"Hope for the best and plan for the worst." Your big day is just days away. The RSVPs are in, dresses tailored and catering confirmed. What could go wrong? No wedding – no matter how well-planned and well-run – is immune to the occasional crisis or disaster. Knock on wood and consider this prewedding emergency checklist: Know your venue and its contacts. There is a leak in the women's bathroom. Before your guests ruin their shoes, know who the contacts are for your venue. Work with them to have a plan B in case of maintenance emergencies, weather or other unforeseen situations. Same for vendors. Only 85 chairs were delivered instead of 100. Who do you call? Having a clear list of all vendor contacts - and distributing it to all members of your event team - is critical to managing emergencies on the fly. Be familiar with evacuation plans and emergency exits. The fire alarm is going off. What now? Have a plan for how you will evacuate your guests - and communicate the need to do so. Having a PA system, bullhorn or whistle in your emergency kit can help you get the attention of a crowd. Identify staff or volunteers in advance to help guide guests to emergency exits. Print it out. Having copies of all guest lists, permits, contracts, contact numbers, maps, layouts, etc. can be a lifesaver. We all love trees and live in a digital world, but there's nothing like a visual in case of an emergency. Being able to show someone on a map where the extra chairs go or how you are going to move things around is critical. Additionally, you can handoff paper much more easily than a tablet when delegating tasks or information. Have enough copies for everyone and a few extras, just in case. Have an emergency kit packed and ready. You have things that are moving that shouldn't. Things that aren't moving that should. A change to the menu. A giant spill. And no time to run back home or the office to deal with it. Emergency kit to the rescue! Looking for a FREE emergency kit packing list? Download our printable below.
Don't go it alone. Rather than dealing with emergencies yourself, why not kick up your heels and enjoy your wedding. Let MBD Marketing & Events take on the heavy lifting, so you can dance the night away! My Big Day has planned over 300 weddings! Trust your event planning experts! Small Business. Big Impact.

Supporters, staff, and community members joined together for a fabulous celebration at The Lyric that included hand mixed Margaritas, a tasty Nacho Bar, a silent auction bursting with items and activities, and fun Salsa Music provided by the Manabi Latin Band! Guests visited with one another on The Lyric’s outdoor theater grounds while listening to the festive tunes. They strolled through the silent auction, and many took advantage of purchasing Bird Cage tickets. The Family Center’s Annual Birdcage was full of thousands of dollars in gift cards and items, and one lucky winner’s ticket matched the padlock. A short program highlighted the work that The Family Center does each day, strengthening families and providing quality early childhood childcare and education. It also honored a long-time volunteer and supporter, Grandma Theresa. This important event and fundraiser helped to raise over $37,000 for The Family Center-La Familia’s programs and daily expenses. None of this would be possible without the support of the event’s hosts, sponsors, and generous donors. The Family Center-La Familia would like to thank event sponsors:
My Big Day was ecstatic to be enlisted as the 'fun makers' for Slate360, an event company based out of Nevada/Boston. The team at Slate360 asked us to plan a packed itinerary filled with experiences and excursions in Colorado. From booking car services to/from the hotel and out and about, to meals, to team-building activities, we had a blast putting together tons of fun for this client! Our new friends know how to make all of their team members feel welcome. Fantastic lodging at The Elizabeth Hotel in Old Town Fort Collins, a custom candy bar, packed fridge, every supply that could make one feel comfortable when traveling, and monogramed gifts for all! Here is a taste of just 2 days of the team's itinerary... Thank you to our photography friend, Dick Knapp, who captured some candid moments of the team and headshots! If your company is looking for a custom experience for your retreat and/or team-building, you know who to call.... MBD Marketing & Events. Small Business. Big Impact.

This fresh event brought the energy of the classic TV show Supermarket Sweep to Northern Colorado. Partners raffled off the chance to win three top prizes— $1000, $750, and $500 shopping spree at Lucky’s Market. Then on April 3rd, our winners shopped with just 4 minutes to grab whatever they could (with a few hidden prizes along the way). The NoCo Grocery Grab is a FUN event that gives our community a chance to have their own Supermarket Sweep. MBD is the proud planning partner and cheerleaders of a fun way to raise money for a great non-profit! We have a record number of weddings on the books for 2022, and one question we keep getting from our couples is: What Colorado venues allow me to bring my own alcohol? With mobile bars and micro weddings still trending for the coming year, more and more couples are exploring wedding venues that allow them to bring in their own alcohol, with or without the requirement of a licensed bartender to serve it. In all cases – based on years of experience and hundreds of weddings – we strongly recommend that you have a TIPS-certified bartender serve your guests. TIPS-certified bartenders are trained to prevent underage drinking; limit that guest who has already had plenty; prevent attendees from driving impaired; and properly report any incidents that do arise for insurance and law enforcement purposes – which benefits you and your venue. Our own My Big Day team is TIPS-certified and provides bartending by the hour through On the Rocks, northern Colorado’s own luxury mobile bar and tap service. Contact us now, and let My Big Day and On the Rocks keep the drinks and the big day flowing smoothly. Still researching wedding venues?
