Colorado Country Barn Wedding

9/25/2017

When you hire a wedding planner, often you are looking for a variety of services. In the case of Natalie's wedding, her family really just needed some help with logistics - specifically the cocktail hour, dinner buffet and cake cutting. While My Big Day is not a catering company, we will rise to any challenge, as our goal is to make your big day the best day of your life. We were happy to work with this lovely family and help them with their specific planning needs.

This wedding was a beautiful barn wedding on the bride’s parent’s property. The ceremony was on their beautiful lawn and reception in the barn. As soon as we arrived we hit the ground running to make sure everything was in place and the food warming before the reception started. We had about 3 hours to set everything up. It was the perfect amount of time. The critical timing came in to play as soon as we opened the buffet.
Picture
Picture
We made sure the food stayed full, we released tables smoothly so we didn’t over crowd the buffet and drinks were checked on as well.  The real excitement came when it was time to tear down the buffet and make room for the dance floor. Right after we pulled all the food and moved the tables we had to pack up all the leftovers and start cutting cake simultaneously. We saved the top tier of the cake for the bride and groom so they would have that for their first anniversary. We cut up the bottom tier and served it along with the other 3 flavors. There were 4 flavors of cake. It was glorious!

Once we were finished packing up all the food and cakes for the night, we made sure the place was clean and drinks were full. We had such a lovely time at this wedding. We got to do something we rarely handle and it was splendid. The mother of the bride was our contact and she was such a sweet lady. She was so very pleased with how we handled things and we couldn’t ask for a better client. This wedding was beautiful. The barn has seen many celebrations- this was the fifth child in this family to be married here. This barn is filled with love and happiness. The family home is in the middle of the country with a lovely mountain view. You couldn’t ask for a more picturesque country, barn wedding. It turned out to be beautiful fall day for this beautiful fall wedding in the country!

Congratulations Paul & Natalie

A Rustic Wedding in Allenspark, Colorado

6/8/2017

Very seldomly does a bride come along who is as organized as we are!  Kaitlin had her wedding nearly planned from our first phone call. The bride and groom chose a location that is not a traditional wedding venue, so they knew they needed advice and help pulling everything together to make the day seamless --- and it was!
Picture
Picture
The location our couple picked was the home of many childhood memories. Kaitlin and her family spent many summers at the Meeker Park Lodge in Allenspark, Colorado. It is a rustic retreat with cabins and priceless views surrounding the entire property.

Our planners did a site visit and helped choose the perfect ceremony spot, with a mountain backdrop that can't be bought!

The reception was filled with laughter and dancing... lots of dancing!

Valentine's Day Night Out - Dinner Reservations

2/10/2015

Have you made dinner reservations for this weekend?   My Big Day has heard that restaurants around Loveland are booked solid!   Be sure to call ahead... there is a lot of LOVE in our Sweetheart City.  Everyone wants to spend Valentine's Day in our town!
After hearing this news, we did some online research in neighboring cities for dinner reservations on Friday, February 13th and Saturday, February 14th.  OpenTable.com reports that only a handful of options are available for off-times.

If you are willing to put a creative twist on your weekend, consider spending Sunday of Valentine's weekend with the My Big Date gals.  Three small business owners have partnered to offer a "Brunch and Brew" package that gives you a tour of Loveland's hot spots!  Enjoy an artisan coffee pairing, brunch and beer pairing, and beer and cupcake pairing in the Sweetheart City!
Only a couple spots are available for the 2/15 tour!

2015 Wedding Trends in Colorado

1/18/2015

We are seeing some exciting wedding trends for 2015!  My Big Day loves working with brides who have a vision and are willing to try new things. With every wedding season trends change and we can see patterns in popularity.

Here is what we are seeing for 2015:
Destination Weddings to the Colorado Mountains:
Living and having a business based in Colorado, we see 'mountain themed' weddings all the time. But in 2015 we are seeing more destination weddings to the Colorado mountains than ever!  We have brides coming from out of state and getting married in Silverthorne, Breckenridge, Estes park, Vail, Beaver Creek, Granby, and Steamboat Springs.
Why are mountain weddings so popular?
We think it's because a wedding outdoors makes for great photos, Colorado has reliable weather, and Colorado is more affordable than having your friends and family fly to Bora Bora for your destination!

Classic Making a Comeback:
Everything old is new again!  Simple elegance, white, gold accents, distinguished details...  We are seeing the word "Classic" everywhere!  Think lace... pastel pink... fine china ... crystal.... what weddings were, and are again!

Laser-Cut Wedding Invitations:
In 2015 laser cut and laser scribed invitations have definitely become popular.  We are seeing "Classic" make a comeback, and laser cut invitations are a statement piece that can convey a classic theme to your guests. With the array of designs and intricacies available, these invitations set the tone of a wedding!  They are great for Save the Dates too!
We received this laser scribed invitation from bride, Alicia:

Picture
"Frozen" Winter Weddings:
Blame it on Disney... weddings are not just for the summer (they never really have been).  But more than ever, winter weddings are gaining in popularity. And why not!?!  Snow makes the perfect background for soft, clean, sparkly elegance!

Wedding Cinematography:
Forget the words "wedding video."  Wedding movies are the new trend!  My Big Day has worked with some incredible videographers who turn weddings into short films. We LOVE this trend!
Below is a wedding film from one of our recent weddings:

Craft Beer Weddings:
Being from Colorado, and having a business in Northern Colorado, "The Napa of Beer"... we find that craft  beer has made it's way into the wedding scene - BIG TIME!
Signature cocktails will always be a fun offering for guests. But local, craft beer and spirits make your Big Day a celebration of you, and where you are from!
