We love it when we get calls out of the blue from a company who needs help with creativity! It's what we do best! We met our new friends at DBC Irrigation in 2021 when everyone what facing similar pandemic problems with events. We created a HUGE backpack fundraiser for A Precious Child (501c3) that was an engaging team-building activity. And we helped to provide hundreds of students with backpacks for the 21-22 school year, while giving the DBC staff a unique team building activity! DBC called again and asked us to create a unique Spring luncheon event that was FUN, CREATIVE, ENGAGING and would help they to raise money while employees have a great time. We created a musically delightful and silly day at the Denver Museum of Art. All smiles - all day --- and we were able to donate $20,000 to 3 local charities who are supporting the families affected by the Marshall Fire! Colorado Pet Pantry + Sister Carmen Community Center + Future Arts Foundation of Colorado are the charities that received this incredible support! Thank you to Dick Knapp Photography for capturing the fun, HOWE Eventful for the Music Trivia and the Denver Museum of Art for hosting us! Small Business. Big Impact.

This fresh event brought the energy of the classic TV show Supermarket Sweep to Northern Colorado. Partners raffled off the chance to win three top prizes— $1000, $750, and $500 shopping spree at Lucky’s Market. Then on April 3rd, our winners shopped with just 4 minutes to grab whatever they could (with a few hidden prizes along the way). The NoCo Grocery Grab is a FUN event that gives our community a chance to have their own Supermarket Sweep. MBD is the proud planning partner and cheerleaders of a fun way to raise money for a great non-profit! Special thanks to all of the event sponsors, 99.9 The Point's BIG ROB, Dick Knapp Photography and the Partners board and staff! Small Business. Big Impact.

Partners is a special 501c3 to MBD's owner, Christine, as they provide programs to our youth and a large mentorship program. Christine was a mentor to teen girls for over 10 years and has first hand experience as a mentor for Partners. Now as their fundraising team, we are asking our followers to support them and their vital programs for Northern Colorado Youth. Please choose to give to Partner’s Spark Campaign! Partners relies on community support to fund our youth programs and The Spark Campaign is our biggest fundraiser of the year. All of the funds we raise--from corporate sponsors, community groups, and individual donors--benefit our youth programs. Did you know that through Partners over 500 youth achieve a 70% increase in their confidence and self-esteem? A small donation of $50 can provide a youth with some basic life skills that they can take with them into adulthood. This year they aim to raise $150,000—it’s a big goal that will allow them to continue serving our
community in big ways, and helping local youth gain confidence, social skills, resiliency, and hope. Supporting The Spark Campaign means supporting local kids and families at a time when they need it most. Please consider giving to Partners to help reach their 2021 fundraising goal. Donate Now! MBD Marketing and Events have been working with Thompson Education Foundation for a couple of years now. From fundraisers to maintaining their social media MBD has been happy to partner with TEF. But who is TEF and what do they do for the Thompson School District and the community surrounding it? “Thompson Education Foundation is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to providing exceptional educational opportunities for students and teachers in Thompson School District. The foundation supports over 60 programs, activities, and scholarships in partnership with Thompson School District, serving students in Loveland, Berthoud, south Fort Collins and outlying communities.” So where does your money go when you donate to TEF or participate in one of their many fundraisers throughout the year? https://www.pinterest.com/MyBigDayEvents/education-k-12/ * A blog dedicated to our non-profit client, Thompson Education Foundation COVID-19 has forced schools to do what’s being referred to “remote” or “distance” learning this year, and some say it could continue into 2021 as well. This has been a difficult process for parents, students and teachers to adjust to. Just know, you are not alone! Many parents and teachers have been experimenting with what works best for their students during this time. I have gathered the top 5 most helpful tips on how to be successful with remote learning! 1. Make a schedule. Having a consistent daily schedule can allow everyone to feel prepared and ready for their day. Organizing their schedule around your schedule as a parent can ease some stress of working at home and having your kids schooling at home. Consistency is key! For example, if you have math first one day, math should be first every day. Visualize your schedule by printing it out, writing it on a dry erase or chalk board, or making a clickable schedule on their laptop. Set alarms for zoom classes to keep everyone on schedule without having to have it all memorized. 2. Take a typing class. Younger kids who have not had a lot of school experience are feeling overwhelmed. Not only do they have to sit in front of a computer all day, they also must know how to use one! Getting your student typing classes can help teach kids the basics of typing properly with exercises on what all of the keys mean and how to use them. Typing Club offers free classes and exercises to help get your child prepped for remote learning! https://www.typingclub.com 3. Give lots of Breaks. Breaking up the schedule can help your student focus better and be ready to learn. Everyone need breaks throughout their day, whether it’s for snacks, exercise or just to rest their eyes from the screen breaks can help kids feel more independent in remote learning as long as there is consistency. Students thrive on consistency! One tip from a parent was to have activity kits ready for when your child is in between classes and you do not have the time to get them started on something. If the child has activities at their workspace it can help keep them focused and entertained until you can get around to helping them. 4. Give kids an outlet to discuss emotions. One of things to not lose sight on is that you are still their parent, not just their new teacher, or helper with school assignments. By having kids write in a journal they can process their feelings in this uncertain time. A nice addition to your daily schedule is to set aside time to talk as a family about how everyone is feeling and coping with everything. 4. Optimizing the Learning Space. Having a learning space free of distractions, noise, tv and other forms of entertainment can optimize the student’s learning process. Having access to all supplies at their space, within reach that is well organized can also help kids with becoming distracted from needing to leave their learning space to go elsewhere in the home. In response to COVID-19 and Thompson School District’s decision to continue remote learning in schools, Thompson Education Foundation (TEF) and the Literacy Committee of Loveland Rotary Club each committed $10,000 ($20,000 total) to support remote learning for students in 2020. The first purchase was for 5,000 books for students who are participating in TSD’s emergency food distribution program. The books were purchased for all grade levels, PreK-12. In addition, Thompson Education Foundation supplied 500 school supply kits to supplement at-home learning for elementary and secondary students without access to supply resources at home. We are approaching the end of 2020, and that means it’s almost time to launch The Family Center’s annual Play it Forward year-end campaign. My Big Day has been proud to support this amazing non-profit and help lead their fundraising efforts! If you’re familiar with The Family Center/La Familia, you know our goal in an average year is to raise at least $50,000 for families. This year has not been an average year. The needs of our community are greater than ever. Larimer County’s childcare assistance program has now been closed for three years due to lack of funding. And, if you received our Play it Forward 2020 letter, you know the pandemic has not slowed us down - in fact, it has only increased the needs of families in our community. Here are some of TFC’s 2020 achievements so far, by the numbers:
Our goal for this year’s Play it Forward event is to raise $80,000. Here are some examples of how far your donation can go:
Did you know that your donations to TFC/La Familia also qualify for Colorado’s Child Care Contribution Tax Credit? This means that 50% of your income comes right off your taxable income. If you donate $100 to our Play it Forward campaign, your net out-of-pocket cost is just $50 - for a $200 donation after donor matching.
You can donate to Play it Forward easily online HERE. Thank you to our vibrant community for another year of support. We couldn’t operate The Family Center/La Familia without you. The MBD team has been extremely fortunate to have some amazing partners who have trusted us with their valued community events. Knowing that we are invested in our community and we still wanted to bring fun to local families, My Big Day worked with Thompson Education Foundation and The Centerra Marketplace to put on some amazing Halloween experiences! Our socially safe Trick-or-Treat event hosted at The Ranch Events Complex in Loveland was a huge success! Over 30 vendor booths, over 40 volunteers, and over 3,000 guests came through on Saturday, October 31st. This event was FREE to the public. The Halloween Hullabaloo hosted by McWhinney at the Centerra Marketplace provided 7 drive-in movies for FREE for families to enjoy! What a fantastic way to celebrate the holiday, dress up, and enjoy some old fashioned fun! Our good friend, Jen West Photography, captured some photos of the fun over the Halloween weekend. Thank you for supporting our small business while we support others. We love what we do! Contact MBD Marketing & Events

As with all events in 2020, there is uncertainty for non-profits and for all entities trying to plan mass gatherings. How do you plan things safely? How to you still get your message out effectively? If you offer and online or in person event, will people actually show up? We took on a last minute request to host a drive-in style event to feature an important movie that highlights addiction and overdose. My Big Day managed all of the event marketing and messaging, as well as, event logistics. In a time like this, we are keenly aware of those who are silently struggling. We feel blessed to be the company who Boulder County reached out to for help when spreading the word on this important topic. "We wanted to thank you sincerely, for all of the incredible work you did for our event. You pulled together a class act in 2 weeks, and made something happen that we couldn’t have dreamed possible through your amazing skills, organizational attributes and contacts. We know that we were unable to market and advertise as we should have due to the fact the grant took so long to be approved, and then a venue site had to be acquired. But, you pulled everything together without a hitch, in record time! Our appreciation is without measure. Some of the feedback I have received about the event is as follows: “Flawless and with fluidity and professionalism” “Beautifully done and so meaningful to us and our family. Thank you” “Thank you and thank you for all you do! I’m so glad to have been there” None of this would have been possible without MY Big Day and all your efforts. Until we work together again!" -Trina and Arielle, Boulder County Community Services Contact My Big Day Marketing & Events Phone: 970-613-1455 or 303-886-3068 Email Us We serve the entire Front Range; Denver, Southern Wyoming, the CO Mountains, and Northern Colorado: Loveland, Fort Collins, Greeley, Windsor, Berthoud, Estes Park, Lyons, Longmont, Boulder, Wellington, Johnstown, Evans, Severance, Timnath, Mead, Frederick, Firestone, Milliken One of our many passions is supporting local non-profits in our community. The Family Center/La Familia is an agency that is a vital resource in our community. We are proud to be their trusted partner in 3 core areas: Events, Marketing and Development. As part of our development focus, we launched their "GROW" campaign, which is an effort to grow their monthly, continuous donors. This is the best way for a non-profit to predict what resources they can offer based on projected donations. With the help of a couple strong community partners, our campaign has received $30,000 in just the first month as a way to kick-start our lofty $100,000 goal. Below is the public statement made about this initiative. Over the course of three months, Fort Collins Foothills Rotary helped raise $93,000 to benefit six local organizations who are directly serving families impacted by the pandemic: Food Bank, Rescue Mission, Neighbor to Neighbor, La Familia/The Family Center, Teaching Tree, and Putnam Elementary. This was in cooperation with each organization's fundraising efforts and partnering with Community Foundation of Northern Colorado. We are SO thankful for the heart Foothills Rotary Club of Fort Collins has for Early Childhood Education. Their 10k donation was a great kick-off to our GROW campaign, and a 20k donation from the Community Foundation of Northern Colorado is such a blessing. We are filled with gratitude! "With the generous contribution made by the Foothills Rotary Club of Fort Collins and the Community Foundation of Northern Colorado we will make the required concrete leveling of the preschool playground and install a long lasting and secure fence around it. This work has been desired for a long time and thanks to this funding it will be possible!" -Gloria Kat, Executive Director & Family Support Services Director If you are able to give a little extra, we encourage you to support The Family Center/La Familia.
