 Many of our favorite summertime activities have been sidelined due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but there are still multiple ways to safely entertain in the great outdoors. Planning ahead, preparing for time with your personal small social networks, and adjusting plans to fit recommended guidelines will ensure a fun and safe time for all! Getting outside can be a great cure for the quarantine blues. With that in mind, we have come up with a list of socially safe, outdoor entertaining tips to help you enjoy this summer with your family and close friends. Use this list as a checklist in your planning, to help pull off a seamless gathering for fun. (As always, when planning, please follow all local and state Covid-19 guidelines.) Carefully craft your guest list Current guidelines allow for groups of up to 10 with plenty of extra space. Make sure you invite guests who have been following guidelines and are comfortable wearing a mask when not eating or drinking. Plan to have plenty of extra masks and hand sanitizer on site for extra safety precautions.  The Christmas spirit was extended into early January with Blue’s holiday party, built around the storyline from the classic holiday tale - A Christmas Story! Guests were transported back to a simpler time with specialized photobooth backdrops, food, and decor reminiscent of Ralphie’s childhood home in the 1950’s. The Marriott Fort Collins hosted us again and tables were decorated with kitchen colanders in honor of Mother Parker’s holiday culinary feats, Red Ryder BB guns, and of course, the famous “Fragile” Leg Lamps. The only thing missing was a bar serving large glasses of Ovaltine! (Note - there were three open bars for the guests to imbibe from!)
 The evening was full of fellowship between all the various bank branches, company recognitions and awards, and of course dancing! Music and emceeing was provided by our favorite entertainer - DJ Kaaos! Activities also included a costume contest, and door prize drawings for all of the table centerpieces. 
Blue Federal Credit Union is one of our favorite clients to work with, and we were once again pleased to be part of the planning for their always fun company holiday party! Myrna's daughter, Colette reached out to My Big Day requesting assistance with putting a memorable birthday party together! We were honored to help the entire family celebrate Myrna's Big Birthday!  Our friend Joe with About The City Limos and Tours picked the ladies up and delivered them to Spa Botanica inside of the Embassy Suites in Loveland.    Our clients were greeted with a very personalized experience from the lovely Spa Botanica staff. They enjoyed a relaxing day of spa services and yummy things to nibble on and soothing tea to sip.  After a few hours of relaxation, Myrna and her girls were escorted by About The City back home to get ready for a night out!  For dinner, the ladies met up with the rest of the family for a large, private dining experience at Door 222 in Downtown Loveland. They had a delicious meal, dessert, and celebrated Myrna's 80 wonderful years on this earth! We were honored to help put this fun day together for the family! Sometimes, My Big Day wedding planners are brought in at the last minute, for “day of” only help. Other times, we are fortunate enough to work with a couple, crafting and creating THE perfect day from start to finish. While we are always happy to fill either role, crafting a couple’s dream wedding vision from start to finish is always a labor of love and considered a privilege. Craig & Catherine Harrison had a vision for their Big Day, and we had the privilege of making that dream come true!  Craig and Catherine dreamed of celebrating with friends and family on their family owned ranch located just outside of Timnath, Colorado. Their expansive property was the perfect place to not only be wed to to each other, but to also combine their love of their new longhorn cattle herd operation and new show barn, with Catherine’s fondness of all things glamorous and shiny! Open pastures, bubbling brooks, and painted mountains provided the perfect backdrop for this dream wedding, and the newly constructed show barn offered the perfect spot for a festive cocktail hour and dancing.  As wedding planners, we always have an eye for detail - small details and touches pack a punch and can pull everything together. Catherine was all about the details - from the feminine and soft floral arrangements hand picked and held in family heirloom vases, to the old books and picture frames, repurposed as barn decor. She pulled this vision of “high sophistication with a rustic flare” together with antique furniture, lace and tulle, wine barrels, and candlelight provided by sparkly votive jars. The floral arrangements that were placed throughout the ceremony site, barn, and dining tent were simply stunning.
Our job of pulling all of the details together began early on September 16. Our team oversaw the set up the ceremony site and stage - complete with a hand made lectern provided by our groom, Craig. We worked closely with florist, Lace and Lillies as well as baker, Sarah B's Bakery, to place floral displays throughout the venue, as well as a delicious dessert bar, located in the barn. Caterers Juli y Juan, and their team worked to create flawless displays of tasty dishes, hand picked by the bride and groom for their guests. First look and pre-ceremony photos took place throughout the property, and were lovingly captured by Ash Meier Weddings and Arcadian Pictures. Dec. 13-16 - Berthoud Snowfest Berthoud SNOWFEST is a winter festival as well as the sanctioned Colorado State Snow Sculpting Competition held in Berthoud, Colorado on 7th Street (west side of Fickel Park).  Your wedding day is likely something you have looked forward to most of your life. You’ve been dreaming of it for years, and now that you are engaged, you cannot wait for the big day to get here. Be sure to prepare yourself for the road between your engagement and the main event. Wedding planning can be extremely stressful and exhausting, not to mention the strain it can put on relationships. With these tips, you can help alleviate some of that stress so you can focus on the fun. 1. Know yourself, know what you want. Of course, you want to take your parents, your grandparents, and your friends’ opinions into account, but remember this is your wedding (meaning yours and your partners). Be sure to gauge your emotions and how those weigh on what is important to you in planning your day. Take care to nurture your feelings while also taking others’ into account and handling any disagreements with them tactfully and gracefully. This will prevent conflict and controversy and keep everyone on the same page.  2. Choose your wedding party carefully. Number 1 brings us to Number 2. Be selective in who you choose to surround yourself with while planning and carrying out your wedding. Your bridal party should be comprised of family and friends who know you well, have seen you at your best and worst, and can handle all those ups and downs right along with you. Having people whose opinions you value and you know you can lean on can help you manage tough decisions and the emotional roller-coaster that can accompany planning a wedding 3. Plan ahead. Most wedding planners will recommend starting the planning process 12-16 months ahead of time and to create an all-encompassing checklist. This allows you plenty of time to secure your venue, book your service vendors (think florist, caterer, DJ or band, photographer, etc., etc.), find the perfect dress for you and your bridesmaids and have them altered, order your invitations, and still allow time to make changes or rectify any mistakes that pop up along the way. Waiting until the last minute to plan can lead to difficulty finding availability for everything from a pastor to flights for the honeymoon. You want your big day to go off without a hitch and be magical, not a chaotic hodgepodge, so plan far in advance. 4. Use referrals. Piggybacking off of number 3, use referrals when booking your vendors and service providers. Ask your friends who they used, research local resource guides, and ask for references. Don’t be afraid to ask questions to make sure you know exactly what you are paying for, and they have no question as to what your expectations are. Done in conjunction with plenty of time and planning, this will allow time for any wrinkles to be ironed out.  5. Sweat it out. Be sure to exercise regularly during your wedding planning. Not only will this keep you in shape and prevent stress eating from packing on pounds, exercising will help you work out the stress, clear your mind, and keep you focused. Whether you prefer yoga, hitting the trails, or cross training, maintaining a regular exercise routine is key in counterbalancing stress. Not only will you look fabulous in your dress, you will be relaxed and on top of your game for your big day. 6. Eat healthy. As mentioned above, this can be a very stressful time. Eating a healthy diet packed with all your essential vitamins and minerals will help your body combat stress and stay healthy. You don’t want to be run down or have a weakened immune system and end up sick. Balance this with plenty of water and enough sleep so you will be looking and feeling your best on the big day. 7. Remember to have fun. So often brides get so caught up in the planning that they forget to actually enjoy the experience of planning their wedding and walking down the aisle. This is likely the biggest decision you have ever made and the beginning of a new life together. Embrace all that comes with it and know that even if things don’t go exactly perfect, the most important aspect of it all is enjoying this time with your partner. Take it all in and make the day yours to remember together for a lifetime. Planning a wedding is a huge task, but with planning and care, it can be an exciting, enjoyable journey.
