Many factors should be weighed when deciding on the right amount of food for your event. Of course, first you must know the number of people attending. However, the length of the event is also very important, as is the type of event and the type of food you plan to serve. For example, an evening cocktail party requires considerably less food than an entire afternoon or all-day event. The longer guests remain, the more they’ll consume. It’s funny, but over time people get hungry and thirsty over and over again. When estimating, always round up to be on the safe side. Some will eat more, others less. It will all balance out in the end. Try to anticipate which foods/drinks are most popular and will disappear quickly. Order more of these selections.
When planning for your Big Day, a big part of the prep can be the bachelor party, the bachelorette party, and the honeymoon. Travel costs money, of course, but if you are looking for a fun time with your guys, gals, or a creative budget honeymoon destination, My Big Day can help. Below are some links to articles we found on great places to celebrate, while trying not to break the bank! Cheers! -My Big Day
Looking for that needle in a haystack for your meeting or event? A good, affordable, flexible, centrally located venue is hard to find! My Big Day receives requests from friends, clients and complete strangers weekly to pass on our 'little known secret' venues. While we can't promise any of our favorite venues are secret, we can say that the places below do meet much of our commonly requested criteria. Check out our recommended venues in Northern Colorado below. And... to pull your event off without a hitch, consider hiring an event planner!
My Big Day follows a number of event sites and wedding blogs to keep up on the latest trends. One trend (or common theme) that just isn't going away is friend envy. If you've ever had a BIG DAY or life event centered around you, perhaps you have experienced this sad phenomenon. It's said that those closest to you can hurt you the most. We see this time and time again... someone gets engaged, has a baby, gets a work promotion, etc... and all of the sudden ONE of your friends acts out. They are rude, try to one-up you, ruin a surprise, or just spoil something for you. Who needs a friend like that?!? Not you. The photo below is the best visual I've seen in a while of a friend showing her lack of support for her 3 close girlfriends who all got engaged. Funny, yes. But also hurtful.
As an event planner for 16+ years, I've personally seen lots of bridesmaids gone bad, mothers who ruin surprises, family members who can't control themselves or set aside past issues for ONE day of celebrating their loved one/s, co-workers stealing thunder, exes showing up unannounced, the list goes on...
We even experience it as owners of a small business. There will always be people in your life who love and support you, and then there are the rare few who don't like to see you succeed. When you hire My Big Day Events, you are hiring your own, personal advocate. Our #1 job is to make your BIG DAY the most memorable day of your life, and to help buffer those with friend envy from ruining your moment. Cheers! -Christine

You can smell the cinnamon and spices in the air! The holidays are here, which means the season for holiday craft fairs and festivals. My Big Day uses a great resource for researching and posting craft shows. Mile High on the Cheap is a website that allows you to research and list holiday shows up and down the front range. All listings are for FREE fair, unless otherwise indicated. From Castle Rock to Fort Collins, you can find a comprehensive list for every craft fair. You'll even find holiday festivals at schools, churches, small bazaars, and HUGE extravaganzas! Shop for unusual gifts, many handmade by local artists and artisans, at upcoming holiday arts and crafts shows, festivals and bazaars. Because you usually buy directly from the creators, prices are reasonable — and sometimes downright bargains. CLICK HERE to go to the Mile High on the Cheap website and see the interactive map of listings, and long list of shows by date. A Loveland bridal store that has given away hundreds of dresses in the past two years will do it again this Sunday, 10/20/13. Loveland Wedding Center, formerly Wed Wisely, has set its third annual giveaway for 1-6 p.m. Sunday at the shop, 680 E. Eisenhower Blvd. My Big Day is a BIG fan of Dianne, owner of the Loveland Wedding Center. She is a fantastic seamstress, and even altered the dress of Christine Kovacs on her wedding day. If you know of someone deserving of a dress, who could otherwise not afford it for their BIG DAY, contact Dianne. Here is a link to the Reporter Herald Article: CLICK HERE |
