Take it from us, your professional event planners - we never work an event without having an emergency checklist! Even the best plans can fall short and the most experienced event planners can stymied by unforeseen circumstances. Having an emergency checklist and the right supplies on hand can allow you to handle anything that comes your way. Things that move but weren't supposed to: Duct tape fixes everything, right? That's almost true! Having a variety of tape, depending on the situation, is essential. Clear tape, gaffer tape, clothing tape, removable adhesive strips and double sided tape are important tools for fixing things that should be immobile. Sewing kits, safety pins, zip ties, locks and other theft-prevention measures fall into this category as well. Things that don't move but were supposed to: Now it's time to introduce duct tape's other half - WD40! A lubricating spray can be helpful for loud doors, removing sticky things and more. Scissors and wire snips are essential tools as well. An extra cake knife / serving utensils may also be helpful. Climate control: Is the event outside? If so, bug spray and sunscreen are a must. Anti-itch cream and antihistamines for those bites that inevitably happen can also save the day. An ice cold airconditioned event hall? Toe warmers under the table cloth may be needed. Look your best: In the case of a wedding, photo shoot or keynote speaker, appearance matters. Stain stick, oil absorbing sheets, static guard and a lint roller are important tools to make sure that your clients (and you!) be camera ready. Power it up: Extension cords, power strips, batteries, extra charging cables - we've all seen the situation where the cord just isn't long enough. Having additional supplies to provide power will never do you wrong. Additionally, think about what you would need if the power goes out completely - flashlights, lighters and candles. Mobile office: Permanent markers, pens, highlighters, extra paper, paper clips and binder clips, rubber bands, etc. If you're planning an event with registration or that will take payment, throw in extra money envelopes and receipt paper as well. Extra name tags and acrylic sign holders are also life savers. Safety and wellness: A couple of snacks (remember food allergies) and bottles of water are critical when there's no time for lunch. Basic first aid supplies and pain relief will also keep you and your guests going. Cotton swabs and tweezers have a variety of purposes, and a basic tool kit to hammer in a wayward nail or bend a protruding wire will serve you well. Rubber gloves and trash bags can also help contain messes safely. Example packing list:

MBD has been a long time supporter of Animal Friends Alliance in Northern Colorado. So of course, when Pamela and Lane Everitt reached out to see if we could assist them with a private fundraiser for their favorite charity, we said YES! "Furry Tacos" is the fun name they came up with. Angry Hippie served up delicious tacos, On the Rocks served as our mobile bar with the help of our friends at Wilbur's Total Beverage. Primary Event Rentals brought in beautiful farm tables, sitting areas and high-top tables for our guests. And what event would be complete without furry animal face painting, a photo wall and games for all?!?! Animal Friends Alliance is in a SAVING PETS CHALLENGE right now through the end of September. Supporters, staff, and community members joined together for a fabulous celebration at The Lyric that included hand mixed Margaritas, a tasty Nacho Bar, a silent auction bursting with items and activities, and fun Salsa Music provided by the Manabi Latin Band! Guests visited with one another on The Lyric’s outdoor theater grounds while listening to the festive tunes. They strolled through the silent auction, and many took advantage of purchasing Bird Cage tickets. The Family Center’s Annual Birdcage was full of thousands of dollars in gift cards and items, and one lucky winner’s ticket matched the padlock. A short program highlighted the work that The Family Center does each day, strengthening families and providing quality early childhood childcare and education. It also honored a long-time volunteer and supporter, Grandma Theresa. This important event and fundraiser helped to raise over $37,000 for The Family Center-La Familia’s programs and daily expenses. None of this would be possible without the support of the event’s hosts, sponsors, and generous donors. The Family Center-La Familia would like to thank event sponsors:
We are obsessed with the fresh, clean, and classic style of Ciara and Shane’s Woodlands wedding in Morrison, Colorado! The couple (and Mother of the Bride) paid close attention to every single detail to create a beautiful day complete with many special personal touches. The result was an unforgettable day of beauty, fun, and love! My Big Day was honored to be a part of this special celebration of their lovestory! Guests were ushered around the stunning venue hall to a comfortable breezeway that overlooked the mountains and surrounding forest of The Woodlands just outside of Morrison, CO. They were encouraged to mingle over cool drinks and games of cornhole, or take advantage of comfy lounge chairs overlooking the venue grounds while they waited to be ushered to the ceremony site. The simple arbor that stood at the front of the ceremony isle matched the shape of the mountains that surrounded the beautiful site. Ciara and Shane took advantage of the views and nature for their decor, choosing to add only two large ferns at the back of the seating area. Guests were given packets of rose petals that they tossed after the touching ceremony and celebratory “I Do’s”! The bride wore a beautiful lace and beaded gown while her groom looked handsome in a deep burgundy suit. The men looked dashing in black while the bridesmaids and flower girls shimmered in gold. Florals were kept sleek and simple with bouquets of gathered greenery with pops of white provided by large Mums. The reception hall was full of a mix of farmhouse tables, round banquet tables, and high-tops, encouraging guests to mingle while sampling delicious treats from the many food stations set around the room. Ciara and Shane spent extra time creating a very personalized menu that mixed food from special trips and moments in their lovestory. They had signage explaining the significance of each dish served. The food provided a window into some of the most special moments of their courtship. From the food to the decor to the unique touches like kissing bells and a telephone guest book, this wedding was a memorable affair. It was wonderful to walk with Ciara and Shane through their planning process, and an honor to celebrate with them on their Big Day! Planning an end-of-life event for a loved one is never easy, but we hope to inspire you with these 35 celebration of life toast ideas in their memory. A celebration of life is a ceremony celebrating a one-of-a-kind individual, your loved one. It is typically a casual, joyful, and touching event where friends and family gather to reminisce and share favorite memories of the deceased and celebrate a life well lived. A celebration of life usually follows a burial or cremation and may or may not be preceded by a formal funeral. Every time we are asked to plan a celebration of life, we treat the process and our clients with compassion, respect, and the utmost attention to detail. 35 Celebration of Life Toast Ideas Short, Simple Celebration of Life Toast Oh, here's to other meetings, And merry greetings then; And here's to those we've drunk with, But never can again. Celebration of Life Toast for a Fisherman There is certainly something in angling that tends to produce a serenity of the mind. Time is but the stream I go a-fishing in. I drink at it; but while I drink I see the sandy bottom and detect how shallow it is. Its thin current slides away, but eternity remains. Short Quotes for a Celebration of Life Sometimes you will never know the true value of someone until they become a memory. True friends are always together in spirit. It may be a long walk, but our paths will cross again. What you leave behind is not what is engraved in stone monuments but what is woven into the lives of others. Only a moment you stayed but what an imprint your footprints have left on our hearts. They that love beyond the world cannot be separated by it. Death cannot kill what never dies. Perhaps they are not the stars, but rather openings in heaven where the love of our lost ones pours through and shines down upon us to let us know they are happy. . Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened. A great soul serves everyone all the time. A great soul never dies. It brings us together again and again. Wherever a beautiful soul has been, there is a trail of beautiful memories. I submit to you that if a man hasn’t discovered something he will die for, he isn’t fit to live. It matters not what someone is born, but what they grow up to be. It’s hard to turn the page when you know someone won’t be in the next chapter, but the story must go on. Death is more universal than life; everyone dies, but not everyone lives. Nature-Inspired Celebration of Life Quotes Like a bird singing in the rain, let grateful memories survive in time of sorrow. Lives are like rivers: Eventually, they go where they must. Not where we want them to. For life and death are one, even as the river and the sea are one. If I had a flower for every time I thought of you, I could walk in my own garden forever. Inspirational Celebration of Life Toasts About Dying Too Young In the end, it’s not the years in your life that count. It’s the life in your years. Only the good die young. Life is short. Always choose happiness. Some are bound to die young. By dying young a person stays young in people’s memory. If he burns brightly before he dies, his brightness shines for all time. As is a tale, so is a life. Not how long it is, but how good it is, is what matters. Funny Celebration of Life Toast Ideas Dying is a very dull, dreary affair. And my advice to you is to have nothing whatever to do with it. I am ready to meet my maker. Whether my maker is prepared for the great ordeal of meeting me is another matter. I do not fear death. I had been dead for billions and billions of years before I was born, and had not suffered the slightest inconvenience from it. The idea is to die young as late as possible. Life is pleasant. Death is peaceful. It’s the transition that’s troublesome. Life does not cease to be funny when people die any more than it ceases to be serious when people live. *********************************** According to most studies, people’s number one fear is public speaking. Number two is death. They say such nice things about people at their funerals that it makes me sad to realize that I’m going to miss mine by just a few days. Amazing tradition. They throw a great party for you on the one day they know you can’t come. ***************************** Reach out to find out how we can help you plan a memorable celebration of life event as unique as your loved one. After two years of hiccups and postponements - one for Covid, and one for an unexpected Bundle of Joy, My Big Day Couple Kristin and Gary, finally said “I Do”!
Guests witnessed their vows and commitment to one another atop a mountain in the picturesque campus of the YMCA of the Rockies in Estes Park. Even though a pop-up thunderstorm threatened to dampen their ceremony, the happy couple didn’t even consider postponing their special day yet again. Kristin and Gary chose a beautiful palette of greens and blues that blended well with their mountain backdrop. Guests were served a wonderful assortment of appetizers and cool drinks before they dined on a delicious dinner of chicken and beef, provided by the YMCA’s culinary team. A Music Plus Entertainment got the crowd up on their feet in celebration on the dance floor, and guests were entertained by a slideshow of beautiful photos, displaying special moments from Kristin and Gary’s relationship. We were thrilled to be a part of this special day, centered around this precious little family. Congratulations to Kristin, Gary, and baby Zuri - may your new life together be full of many blessings and very few hiccups! Here are some essential tips for finding and keeping event sponsors for your small company or nonprofit. What are event sponsors? Sponsors are companies, organizations, or individuals who fund an event in exchange for publicity, so that proceeds from the event can go to the host organization. Sponsors typically provide monetary funds, but may also offer in-kind donations of goods, promotional sponsorships through platforms like websites or social media, or advertising sponsorships. How do I find event sponsors? When searching for potential event sponsors, consider organizations that have something in common with your own, such as a mission, values, and/or an audience. Your chances of securing a potential sponsor are much greater if there is reason for them to be interested in your event, such as a professed interest in your company’s goals and beliefs or potential for the sponsor to market themselves to their desired audience. You can also look at a company’s website, social media pages, and news articles to see if they’ve sponsored similar events in the past. When sourcing sponsors, consider:
How do I secure event sponsors? Event planners often provide potential sponsors with a sponsorship packet – a digital or printed pamphlet that breaks down the benefits a sponsor receives based on the amount of funding they provide. A sponsorship packet should include details about audience demographics, projected or past attendance numbers, vendor names, any data or analytics you can provide about your organization’s reach on individual platforms, and testimonials from past sponsors. For nonprofits, testimonials from beneficiaries can be very appealing to potential sponsors. Elements that can help with emotional appeal for both small businesses and nonprofits include your startup story, inspiration behind your organization, your mission statement, and ways your organization benefits the local community. Typical sponsorship benefits include brand exposure, audience engagement, and improved reputation for the sponsoring organization. A sponsorship packet outlines levels of sponsorship (for example, Silver, Gold, Platinum) and corresponding publicity benefits. What are some common event sponsor benefits?
What are some creative event sponsor benefits? Make your sponsorship packet stand out by offering these unique event sponsor benefits:

As the world opened up in 2021, demand for venues, hotel rooms, plane tickets, and event rentals skyrocketed. At the same time, economic difficulties and massive staff shortages have dominated the events industry. We’re already scouting venues for our holiday party clients so they can have the best of the best. If you want the best of the best too, the time to reserve your ideal venue is NOW. Check out our holiday party planning timeline and checklist if you need help getting started. Here are 10 reasons to book your holiday party early: Get Your First Choice Date Whether your date has special meaning, employees have already voted on their availability, or you anticipate a lull between projects that would be the perfect time for your coworkers to let loose, the sooner you book, the more likely you are to secure your ideal date. You’ll want to avoid conflict with other major holiday events that are already booked, which could hamper attendance to your event. The sooner you secure your venue, the sooner you can claim that date as your own. Guest Attendance Between family obligations, spouse work functions, and personal holiday traditions, your potential guests are pulled in many different directions during the holiday season. Boost attendance numbers by planning early, so invitees will plan around your event. Venue Choice It’s not news that venues book early, and the best ones book up first. If you’re set on a particular venue – or, in this crazy year, want to find one at all – start making phone calls now. If you book with an event planner, like MBD Marketing & Events, we’ll do that heavy lifting for you and use our network of clients and partners to give you the best chance of securing your dream event space. Vendor Availability Just like venues, vendors book well in advance, and the best are in highest demand. If you have a favorite caterer, are eager to reserve that up-and-coming deejay, or want better quality photos than you got last year, now is your chance to reserve these vendors. Staff Shortages Historic staff shortages in the event industry have affected almost every aspect of every event we’ve managed in 2022. By planning early, you can:
Venues, vendors, your event planner, and YOU will all appreciate the extra time to work through unexpected challenges that come with current conditions in the events industry. Avoid Holiday Rush Pricing As in any business, supply and demand affect consumer pricing. While venues may have holiday rates set well in advance, holiday travel and accommodation prices skyrocket as demand approaches its peak. Give yourself and your guests time to shop for the best deals by reserving your holiday party date now. Early Booking Discounts Not only does early booking mean you can avoid spending more than necessary, you may even be able to save. Some venues, vendors, and travel companies – though not all – offer discounts for early booking. Whether you’re able to secure these discounts or not, booking early gives your vendors the best chance at exceeding your expectations, which means you’re more likely to walk away satisfied. Time to Think Outside the Box An epic holiday party requires a lot of planning. Even the most creative pros have trouble throwing together a legendary even last-minute. Securing your date and venue early gives you more time to explore the best entertainment options, and even come up with some unique event activities of your own. Our team meets months ahead of our clients’ events for brainstorming sessions to get our creative juices flowing and create something extra special just for you. Build Excitement The longer your guests know an event is coming, the more excited they’ll be! Anticipation gives everyone something to look forward to, which is a great boost to your friends’ moods or your employees’ morale and productivity. Give your guests the holiday gift of something fun in the forecast. Less Stress Before you know it, you’ll find your own calendar filling up with holiday family gatherings, work commitments, and nights out with friends. Give yourself space to breathe by starting the planning process early. By the time you start receiving phone calls and invites in the mail, you can give yourself a pat on the back knowing your event is ready to go and your VIPs have already RSVP’d. When you book with MBD Marketing & Events, we do all the heavy lifting. Our holidays are already filling up with contracts, so book ASAP with our team of creative, experienced event planners for an unforgettable company holiday party.
