Loveland Wedding Center 680 E. Eisenhower Blvd Loveland, Colorado (970) 744-5589 http://WeWedWisely.com/ - by Christine Forster, My Big Day Last night I was so looking forward to a nice, relaxing evening at my nail salon... ahhh.... one hour in a massage chair, getting a pedicure, reading wedding magazines. But that's not how the night played out. The salon was hopping - nearly every chair was taken. I was sat next to a loud, abrasive brunette and her friend who were having a little bit of a girls night. The brunette clearly didn't notice the soothing whimsical music in the background and chairs lined with ladies reclined with their eyes closed. Her voice carried across the entire salon. She spoke as if her words of wisdom were meant for everyone there.
For a full hour I sat and listened to opinion after opinion and bad advice after bad advice. The poor bride was exhausted by the brunette, I could tell. Never once did her friend/bridesmaid ask her how she was feeling or what she would like. She just gave advice as if she were a seasoned pro. Things to leave up to the Pros:
So... did I step in and call the Bad Bridesmaid out?
No. I could have passed the bride my card and offered to help, but some situations aren't worth jumping in the middle of. Let's hope the bride comes to her senses and decides to hire a pro! We are seeing some exciting wedding trends for 2015! My Big Day loves working with brides who have a vision and are willing to try new things. With every wedding season trends change and we can see patterns in popularity. Here is what we are seeing for 2015: Destination Weddings to the Colorado Mountains: Living and having a business based in Colorado, we see 'mountain themed' weddings all the time. But in 2015 we are seeing more destination weddings to the Colorado mountains than ever! We have brides coming from out of state and getting married in Silverthorne, Breckenridge, Estes park, Vail, Beaver Creek, Granby, and Steamboat Springs. Why are mountain weddings so popular? We think it's because a wedding outdoors makes for great photos, Colorado has reliable weather, and Colorado is more affordable than having your friends and family fly to Bora Bora for your destination! Classic Making a Comeback: Everything old is new again! Simple elegance, white, gold accents, distinguished details... We are seeing the word "Classic" everywhere! Think lace... pastel pink... fine china ... crystal.... what weddings were, and are again! CLICK HERE for more wedding inspiration on Pinterest! Laser-Cut Wedding Invitations: In 2015 laser cut and laser scribed invitations have definitely become popular. We are seeing "Classic" make a comeback, and laser cut invitations are a statement piece that can convey a classic theme to your guests. With the array of designs and intricacies available, these invitations set the tone of a wedding! They are great for Save the Dates too! We received this laser scribed invitation from bride, Alicia: "Frozen" Winter Weddings: Blame it on Disney... weddings are not just for the summer (they never really have been). But more than ever, winter weddings are gaining in popularity. And why not!?! Snow makes the perfect background for soft, clean, sparkly elegance! CLICK HERE for additional winter wedding inspiration on Pinterest. Wedding Cinematography: Forget the words "wedding video." Wedding movies are the new trend! My Big Day has worked with some incredible videographers who turn weddings into short films. We LOVE this trend! Below is a wedding film from one of our recent weddings: Craft Beer Weddings: Being from Colorado, and having a business in Northern Colorado, "The Napa of Beer"... we find that craft beer has made it's way into the wedding scene - BIG TIME! Signature cocktails will always be a fun offering for guests. But local, craft beer and spirits make your Big Day a celebration of you, and where you are from! Have Fun. Be Young. Let us know how we can help!

You are able to browse and choose some of your favorite gowns to try on, including a sale section of the store where you can find great dresses at fabulous discounts! It has the feel of a very high-end dress boutique, while still offering a wide range of prices to fit many budgets. Encore Bridal in Fort Collins, CO This bridal shop is one of Fort Collins’ oldest independent bridal shops, which obviously means that they know how to do good business and offer brides what they want and need! Located in a fabulous older building off of College Avenue near the Colorado State University campus, Encore Bridal is a great place to start if you are looking for a smaller-shop feel. Each room in the shop is divided by price so that you can browse dresses within your price point. They even have a room devoted consignment dresses! You pick four or five dresses to start with by placing a clip on the dresses you like, and then get to model them for your friends and family. The dress selection is not quite as large as some of the other shops, but they do feature quite a few popular designers including Allure Bridals, Allure Romance, Saison Blanche, Eden Bridals and Ellis Bridal. Like many of the other shops, they also offer tuxedo rental, bridesmaids’ dresses, Mom’s dresses, and more which makes it a great one-stop shop! Blushing Bride in Windsor, CO Blushing Bride has been locally owned and operated since the late 1980’s, making it one of the oldest bridal shops on the list. Today, they carry a wide variety of dresses from designer and off-the-rack wedding gowns to plus size gowns. They also have a good selection of bridesmaids’ dresses, flower girl and first communion dresses, prom and eveningwear gowns, and accessories. As far as wedding gowns are concerned, they have a limited choice of designers, but some of the most popular ones, which include Allure Bridals, Alfred Angelo, and Maggie Sottero. Many of the most popular wedding gowns come from these designers, though, so don’t let the limited list of names fool you! Another plus is that this shop does not require you to make an appointment to try on gowns, however we do recommend calling ahead in order to avoid a line at the fitting rooms! This popular local shop is another great stop in your journey to find your dream wedding gown. Wed Wisely at the Loveland Wedding Center in Loveland, CO One of the fantastic things about this dress shop is the fact that every year, the owner Dianne Carpenter gives away wedding gowns to those who need them. Many of these gowns were either floor models or donated gowns and when asked why she does this, she said it is because she wants to bless others. The wedding gowns could sell for $500 and up when they were brand new, but Carpenter wants to use her shop to help others and does exactly that once a year. When the sale is not going on, she has a wonderful selection of new, donated, and vintage dresses to choose from. Not only does she sell wedding gowns, but she also has a selection of bridesmaids’ dresses, flower girl dresses, Mom’s dresses and also does alterations! It is a wonderful place to start, especially if you live in the Loveland area! The Bridal Connection in Longmont, CO For over 25 years now, the Bridal Connection has been serving brides in Colorado. According to their website, they carry nearly 200 sample bridal gowns from a variety of designers, which means that you have lots of dress options to choose from. Like the other shops mentioned above, they also have bridesmaid, flower girl, and mom dresses, as well as tuxedos. Some of their designers include Maggie Sottero, Mori Lee, Venus, Allure Bridals Romance by Allure, Stella York, and Essence of Australia. Because they have a wide selection of dresses, it makes it fairly easy to try on a variety of styles, especially if you are not sure what might look best on you. This shop also recommends that you start your dress search early as it takes about 6 to 12 months for their dresses to arrive in store and then you must factor in the alterations. They are open Monday through Saturday, so make sure to make an appointment before you go!
-by Jessica Weimer Boudoir photo shoots have become more and more popular with brides in the last couple years. The idea of boudoir is to take sexy pictures in pretty lingerie and give it to your man on the wedding day so he can anticipate the night to come. Some brides don’t understand this tradition or don’t understand the need for it; we are here to tell you it is something you definitely don’t want to miss out on, not just for your future husband, who will definitely appreciate the thought, but for yourself! Here are our top 3 reasons you should say YES to a boudoir shoot:
2. You get to wear really fun underwear. One of the best parts of boudoir is going and buying the sexy lingerie. This is a fun girl trip and gives you the chance to get something really beautiful and fun that your fiancé will go crazy for! If you really wanted to get creative you can incorporate your fiancés button up shirt or use props like pearls and fans, this creates a totally new and fun look.
We think choosing to do boudoir isn’t just for your fiancé, but for yourself and learning to love your body the way it is. Wedding planning can be stressful and this is a great way to get away from the details and focus on doing something special for your future husband. Once you try it you won’t regret the way it made you feel or the fun time you had!
