MBD is proud to be a marketing partner for No DUI Larimer. No DUI Larimer is excited to announce our partnership with the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT). CDOT was founded over 110 years ago as a department of the state to ensure Colorado would have a safe, well-maintained highway system. Today, that safety mission includes programs related to impaired driving, distracted driving, car seat safety, motorcycle safety, pedestrian safety, teen driving, and seat belt usage. For each of its programs, CDOT collects and reports on data related to a specific safety concern. This data is available to the public at https://www.codot.gov/safety. The data that CDOT collects is invaluable to our No DUI Larimer program; with CDOT’s data, we can ask our viewers and visitors to Make the Call to report impaired driving based on real statistics and evidence. Between CDOT’s data reporting and No DUI Larimer’s public requests to “Make the Call,” we are confident this will be a valuable partnership. Every day, No DUI Larimer appeals to the public to “Make the Call” through print advertisements; television advertisements; social media engagement; and local sponsorships and partnerships. We believe the issue of impaired driving is best solved when a community comes together to address the problem. We ask the public to Make the Call for a safe ride home from a night out, and to Make the Call to 911 to report drivers showing signs of intoxication. It is up to all of us to keep Larimer County’s roadways safe.

April 8th 2021 was the first annual Trailblazing Thompson, A Salute to Excellence event! TEF, DLR Group and MBD Marketing and Events along with a long list of amazing sponsors came together to make this amazing event happen! But what is Trailblazing Thompson? “A virtual event highlighting Thompson Education Foundation's programs and recognizing excellence in Thompson School District. This annual community event is TEF's Educator of the Year celebration and the features the announcement of the 2021 Educator of the Year recipients. The annual Educators of the Year awards are supported by King Buick GMC. Educator of the Year sponsor, King Buick GMC, feels the best way to give back to the community is through education support: building strong programs that will produce a highly trained workforce that can increase innovation and energy for American manufacturing. To honor Thompson School District educators, King Buick GMC provides car leases for 60 days to educator of the year winner in each categories and a 24 month car lease to the overall TEF Educator of the Year winner.” This year TEF had 79 Thompson School District teachers, principals and staff members nominated for these awards. Only a handful of those can win awards and only one can be named 2021’s TEF Educator of the Year! This event, normally held in person with up to 400 people attending was unfortunately too large to accommodate at this time making it a live streaming virtual event! A lot goes into the behind the scenes when it comes to these types of events. Technical issues are always close by and it is hard for people to have the same confidence speaking in front of a camera with a mask on, rather than speaking to people who are physically there and that they can interact with.

We’re ready to start celebrating our achievements for the remainder of this year, so we’ve come up with a list of 15 (see what we did there?) ideas for celebrating a business milestone. Keep your eyes on MBD’s social media and website for our upcoming 15th anniversary celebrations, and in the meantime, enjoy these ideas for celebrating work milestones with your employees, coworkers, bosses, and customers. Update company branding A big anniversary is a great time to implement updates to your company logo, website, tagline, and even name to better reflect your company’s current image and goals. If you haven’t noticed, MBD’s own website and logo have undergone some updates this year, and there’s more to come! Create a timeline to show off business achievements A timeline of business achievements is a great way to reflect on how far your business has come and remind longtime customers of (and introduce new ones to) your company’s history. Looking back on growth is a morale booster for employees and owners and shows current and potential clients that your company is constantly developing, expanding, and achieving goals. Buy anniversary-branded company swag Dress up your employees in some new company swag (think: anything from pins to t-shirts) with a special-edition logo. This could include additional logo elements, like anniversary numbers, new or additional colors, and/or decorative accents. Offer anniversary-themed, short-term offers or discounts For companies that offer buy-it-now products, a discount percentage or amount to match the anniversary is a fun offer to retain customers and attract new ones. For example, a mattress company might offer 20% off a new mattress to celebrate a 20-year anniversary. Businesses that provide services can still find fun ways to incorporate anniversary numbers into offers; a home cleaning service might offer the fifth cleaning free to celebrate a five-year anniversary. Give out humorous and/or sincere employee awards Smaller companies especially can create a fun, morale-building night out of hosting an employee awards ceremony. Awards can be humorous (i.e. “always wears the coolest glasses to work”) or serious, or both. Take a commemorative photo If your company doesn’t take a yearly team photo already, an anniversary is a great time to do so. For small companies, one photo can capture the entire team – larger corporations can divide employees and supervisors by department for a group photo. We especially love this commemorative customer appreciation “Thank You” photo collage, which is social-distancing friendly since it can be done remotely. Involve customers in a company trivia game Engage with customers in a social media-friendly game of company trivia. Start by compiling a list of fun company facts, then create a question for each fact. These can be multiple choice or open-ended. Offer a prize, experience, or discount for the trivia winner, and post one question per day on social media for a predetermined number of days or weeks. If you’re worried about missed posts or participation on social media, another option is to have people opt-in to play by email. Design a commemorative logo This one takes some design investment, but a commemorative logo can translate to a full marketing campaign and is useful for a variety of digital and print goods – employee t-shirts, pins, website decoration, social media profile images, email marketing, etc. “A Look Back” infographic by the numbers This fun infographic follows the “before and after” format with two columns: one for the year your business began, and one for the anniversary year. You can choose which items to compare: number of services provided, number of happy customers, number of employees, etc. Have a “Do Good Day” Giving back is a great way to highlight a company’s years of positive impact in a community and continued emphasis on community contribution. Volunteering doubles as a valuable team-building exercise, and has been shown to increase morale and self-esteem of participants. It’s important for companies to align with and support causes and demonstrate value to a community outside of the products and services they provide. MBD has made it a point for 15 years now to contribute something to our community with every event we create. Display company awards and accolades Take this milestone opportunity to remind current and potential customers of any awards or accolades your company has received over the years. These could be displayed in a front office, listed in a social media post or blog post, or (if they aren’t already) featured on your website. Share and celebrate your company’s achievements! What was popular in your company’s first year? This equal-parts-funny, equal-parts-nostalgic infographic highlights popular music, movies, slang, fashion items, you name it – all from the year your company was founded. You can ask employees to contribute their favorites from that year, or use a research tool to find the biggest pop culture phenomena by the numbers. Share with customers for an amusing, relatable experience. Record a video message or interview with the company president This could be directed toward employees, customers, or both, and can take a lighthearted or serious approach. Ideas include a thank-you video message, a business-centric interview, or a personal or humorous interview (with questions like: What is your favorite guilty pleasure TV show?) Feature your video in a blog post or social media post for followers to enjoy. Host a celebratory anniversary event In the age of Covid, this may mean a small get-together in someone’s backyard or a larger, virtual meeting or team-building activity or class online. Virtual cooking classes and virtual escape rooms are just two of the many options available for safe, morale-boosting work events. If you’re a NoCo local, consider an after-work party in the work parking lot or someone’s neighborhood with drinks from a local bar like On the Rocks. Compile fun facts Create an infographic or list of fun facts unique to the services or products your company provides. Over 100 adults safely participated in this highly popular event. Downtown Fun for All! This year saw two separate heats of teams. Kick-offs took place at 1:00 PM and 2:30 PM at Civic Center Park. The mood was enthusiastic and fun during both kickoffs as the My Big Day went through the rules of play. This year, most of the 2:30 PM heat was made up of teams who had never played before. Favorite EKH Stops Teams followed their scavenger hunt clues to the following downtown Fort Collins locations:
Teams worked through clues that included listening to a special song to find the B Sweet truck, a detour to a local bus stop that held the picture clue for CopperMuse, and a picture puzzle clue for local favorite, FoCo DoCo. Teams were also encouraged to compete in some “challenges”, including eating a Pickled Quail Egg in order to receive their clue, or swallowing a pickled lemon in order to knock time off of their scavenger hunt route time. 2021 EKH Bragging rites go to….. While some of the teams had a goal of coming in last as to enjoy all the bar and restaurant stops, others were in it to win it! Our 1:00 Heat was dominated by the Light Green Team. This team has played for many years, and was super excited to leave with the coveted trophy for the first time this year! The winners of the second heat were newbies, Pink B! They were a team of co-workers who used the Easter Keg Hunt as a team building exercise. We’d say they were pretty successful in their endeavors! Looking ahead to next year! The Easter Keg Hunt is hands down, one of our favorite events of the year. It is such a blast to put on - connecting with businesses, getting creative with clues, and watching all of the participants have a blast - we are already looking forward to next year! We’ll admit, some of us enjoy a girls’ night in with these guilty pleasure films – but they’re not totally accurate in depicting the event planning world. Here are a few things the movies get wrong about what event planning REALLY looks like: The over-the-top weddings Movie weddings tend to be extravagant and exaggerated, which can set unrealistic expectations for brides-to-be. Many of the weddings shown in these rom-coms would cost hundreds of thousands of dollars to recreate – some over a million dollars. Since the average amount couples budget for a wedding in the United States is $33,900, these weddings aren’t feasible for most couples to recreate. The good news is that we can help you create a magazine-worthy wedding even if your budget is less than a sixth of that national average. The drama Sure, we’ve seen some drama, but not every bride is a Bridezilla, not every mother-of-the-bride has a vendetta against the couple, and not every corporate client is difficult to work with. In fact, we love our clients, past and present. Events are often stressful for clients. After all, it’s your big day, and there’s a lot at stake. But that’s why you hired us! Our job is to relieve that stress and keep the drama to a minimum so you can soak up every memorable moment. Still - sometimes real life is even MORE unbelievable What if the picturesque trolley you hired to shuttle guests to their hotels after your scenic mountain wedding can’t make it out of the icy parking lot? Or, what if a water pipe bursts in the wall just before your ceremony on a -20 degree day? Yes, we have seen those things happen. Event planning requires equal parts perfectionism and flexibility. You don’t want your event planner to be a deer in headlights when something doesn’t go according to plan. That’s why you hire us! We don’t get involved in clients’ personal lives As tempted as we may be if our client were Matthew McConaughey, you won’t catch us out drinking and dancing with a groom-to-be. We help our clients navigate personal circumstances from a logistical perspective, but we won’t be hanging around outside of meetings or gossiping with family members. We work as a team Certainly, there are solo event planners out there who make it work. But we find that event planning works best as a team. Remember that burst water pipe we mentioned? While some of our team was collecting gushing water in trash cans and throwing it outside, the rest of us were seamlessly conducting a wedding ceremony in the next room – on time, we might add. Meet our team of talented women here. We don’t use code words Okay, we could do this if we really wanted to, but we find it works just as well to communicate discreetly about what’s really going on. We always strive for transparency when it’s appropriate. And when we’re trying to mitigate your stress on the day of your big event, we’ll handle it as a team behind the scenes. The perfect vision takes planning – and lots of logistics If events magically fell into place, we’d be out of a job. Having a vision is great, but what happens when your dream venue doesn’t allow you to work with the outside caterer you had your heart set on? Weddings and all other events require juggling lots of moving parts. If you have an event planner from the start, you won’t run into these issues. But even if you come to us further along in the process, don’t worry – we are great problem-solvers. We don’t trash talk past clients with our current clients (and we certainly don’t take bets on how long marriages will last) These things are unprofessional – not to mention just in bad taste. We wish all of our clients – couples, families, small businesses, and large corporations – the best, and we strive to give you the best. We won’t be broadcasting your pre-ceremony breakdown or the frustration you expressed during a high-stress time. All this said, there are some films that do get it right. Come summer 2021, we hope that there will be more opportunity to gather traditionally. We do not anticipate that events will be back to 'normal' this summer. We plan on delivering events with the assumption that there is a 'new normal'. This means: outdoors as much as possible, including square footage calculators as part of our planning metrics, social distancing requirements, PPE supplies, COVID waivers, fewer elements that involve touch, and hybrid elements. We remain hopeful, but cautious. Now is the time where our creativity and ingenuity shines. We LOVE supporting businesses, non-profits and YOU and your life events. Can we have events? YES! How? “Level Up” is the buzz phrase for Larimer County’s bars and restaurants. The Level Up program allows county businesses to operate one level below the county’s current COVID safety level. So what does that mean, exactly? If Larimer County as a whole is at level Yellow (Concern), as it is currently, approved Level Up businesses can operate one level below – in this example, level Blue (Caution). Higher levels come with stricter requirements, but businesses that have been approved can operate with fewer restrictions. Achieving Level Up status requires a lot from businesses.
