We simply adore this beautiful couple. After years of love together, they finally got to say I DO in August at the YMCA in Estes Park. Thank you to all the wonderful event vendors who helped to make this magical day happen!
Venue: YMCA Estes Park Band: Soul School Planners: MBD Marketing & Events Photographer: Swing Photo A lifetime of well wishes for this beautiful couple!
Their wedding was featured as a 'Real Wedding' on Wedding Wire. A chilly Estes Park day... but love filled the air. Thank you Heather & Jake for having us, and Amanda McCann for the lovely photo feature! LINK TO WEDDING WIRE We are obsessed with the fresh, clean, and classic style of Ciara and Shane’s Woodlands wedding in Morrison, Colorado! The couple (and Mother of the Bride) paid close attention to every single detail to create a beautiful day complete with many special personal touches. The result was an unforgettable day of beauty, fun, and love! My Big Day was honored to be a part of this special celebration of their lovestory! Guests were ushered around the stunning venue hall to a comfortable breezeway that overlooked the mountains and surrounding forest of The Woodlands just outside of Morrison, CO. They were encouraged to mingle over cool drinks and games of cornhole, or take advantage of comfy lounge chairs overlooking the venue grounds while they waited to be ushered to the ceremony site. The simple arbor that stood at the front of the ceremony isle matched the shape of the mountains that surrounded the beautiful site. Ciara and Shane took advantage of the views and nature for their decor, choosing to add only two large ferns at the back of the seating area. Guests were given packets of rose petals that they tossed after the touching ceremony and celebratory “I Do’s”! The bride wore a beautiful lace and beaded gown while her groom looked handsome in a deep burgundy suit. The men looked dashing in black while the bridesmaids and flower girls shimmered in gold. Florals were kept sleek and simple with bouquets of gathered greenery with pops of white provided by large Mums. The reception hall was full of a mix of farmhouse tables, round banquet tables, and high-tops, encouraging guests to mingle while sampling delicious treats from the many food stations set around the room. Ciara and Shane spent extra time creating a very personalized menu that mixed food from special trips and moments in their lovestory. They had signage explaining the significance of each dish served. The food provided a window into some of the most special moments of their courtship. From the food to the decor to the unique touches like kissing bells and a telephone guest book, this wedding was a memorable affair. It was wonderful to walk with Ciara and Shane through their planning process, and an honor to celebrate with them on their Big Day! After two years of hiccups and postponements - one for Covid, and one for an unexpected Bundle of Joy, My Big Day Couple Kristin and Gary, finally said “I Do”!
Guests witnessed their vows and commitment to one another atop a mountain in the picturesque campus of the YMCA of the Rockies in Estes Park. Even though a pop-up thunderstorm threatened to dampen their ceremony, the happy couple didn’t even consider postponing their special day yet again. Kristin and Gary chose a beautiful palette of greens and blues that blended well with their mountain backdrop. Guests were served a wonderful assortment of appetizers and cool drinks before they dined on a delicious dinner of chicken and beef, provided by the YMCA’s culinary team. A Music Plus Entertainment got the crowd up on their feet in celebration on the dance floor, and guests were entertained by a slideshow of beautiful photos, displaying special moments from Kristin and Gary’s relationship. We were thrilled to be a part of this special day, centered around this precious little family. Congratulations to Kristin, Gary, and baby Zuri - may your new life together be full of many blessings and very few hiccups! We have had some wonderful submissions over the years! Below are some ideas for our future wedding couples when looking for the RIGHT WORDS! "The Gift," Pam Brown “In you are flowers and firelight, stars and songbirds, the scent of summer, the stillness just before dawn. I love you today, dressed in glory. I will love you always- dancing, singing, reading, making, planning, arguing. I will love you cantankerous, and tired, courageous and in terror, joyful, fearful and triumphant. I will love you through all weathers and all change. For all you are is precious to me. And every day I live with you and share your love is a gift to me.” "Slow Me Down, Lord!," Wilferd A. Peterson “Let me look upward into the branches of the towering oak and know that it is great and strong because it grew slowly and well. Slow me down, Lord, and inspire me to send my roots deep into the soil of nature’s enduring values that I may grow towards the stars of my greater destiny.” "New Beginnings," Barbara Crooker “May this be a day of new beginnings the sun, like a fragrant apple; the summer air, soft on your hands as the kiss of a child. May berries melt like honey on your tongue. May your heart rise in wonder at the clouds drifting across the sky. May the trails under your boots be covered in pine quills, let the leaves rain down like memories in the autumn of your heart. May the snow beneath your skis run as fast as watered silk, may the cold air kiss your cheeks, turn them red as summer's roses. May the rivers always flow with their unexpected beauty, the first freshets of snowmelt, the rush of early spring. May you always walk in gladness through whatever path or highway; may you always walk within the golden circle of your love.” "In One Another’s Souls," Rumi “The moment I heard my first love story I started looking for you, not knowing how useless that was. Lovers don’t meet somewhere along the way. They’re in one another’s souls all along.” "Now Touch The Air Softly," William Jay Smith “Now touch the air softly, step gently, one, two... I’ll love you ’till roses are robin’s-egg blue; I’ll love you till gravel is eaten for bread, And lemons are orange, and lavender’s red. Now touch the air softly, swing gently the broom. I’ll love you till windows are all of a room; And the table is laid, And the table is bare, And the ceiling reposes on bottomless air. I’ll love you ‘till heaven rips the stars from his coat, And the moon rows away in a glass-bottomed boat; And Orion steps down like a river below, And earth is ablaze, and the oceans aglow. So touch the air softly, and swing the broom high. We will dust the grey mountains, and sweep the blue sky: And I’ll love you as long as the furrow the plough, As however is ever, and ever is now.” "In Your Light I Learn How to Love," Rumi“ In your light I learn how to love. In your beauty, how to make poems. You dance inside my chest, where no one sees you, but sometimes I do, and that sight becomes this art.” "I Saw Two Clouds at Morning," John G. C. Brainard“ I saw two clouds at morning, tinged by the rising sun, and in the dawn they floated on, and mingled into one; I thought that morning cloud was blest, it moved so sweetly to the west. I saw two summer currents flow smoothly to their meeting, and join their course, with silent force, in peace each other greeting; calm was their course through banks of green, while dimpling eddies played between. Such be your gentle motion, ‘till life’s last pulse shall beat; like summer’s beam and summer’s stream, float on in joy, to meet a calmer sea, where storms shall cease, a purer sky, where all is peace.” "Touched By An Angel," Maya Angelou“ We, unaccustomed to courage exiles from delight live coiled in shells of loneliness until love leaves its high holy temple and comes into our sight to liberate us into life. Love arrives and in its train come ecstasies old memories of pleasure ancient histories of pain. Yet if we are bold, love strikes away the chains of fear from our souls. We are weaned from our timidity In the flush of love's light we dare be brave And suddenly we see that love costs all we are and will ever be. Yet it is only love which sets us free.” "A Wedding Toast," James Bertolino “May your love be firm, And may your dream of a life together be a river between two shores by day bathed in sunlight, and by night illuminated from within. May the heron carry news of you to the heavens, and the salmon bring the sea’s blue grace. May your twin thoughts spiral upward like leafy vines, like fiddle strings in the wind, and be as noble as the Douglas fir. May you never find yourselves back to back without love pulling you around into each other’s arms.” "At Nightfall," Charles Hanson Towne “I need so much the quiet of your love After the day’s loud strife; I need your calm all other things above After the stress of life. I crave the haven that in your dear heart lies, After all toil is done; I need the star shine of your heavenly eyes, After the day’s great sun.” "It Was Said With Such Authority," Gary E. McCormick “I’ll give you the gist of what was said It was about love and the sayer said it had nothing to do with receiving He said love was all about giving plain and simple You could tell this guy walked the talk He made it clear you must love yourself before you can begin to love another The guy reminded me of that lover from Galilee” "Devoted," Lori Eberhai “My heart can be your home, my soul can be your refuge. You can turn to me when you are weak, you can call to me when the way is not clear. I will be your promise and your prayer, I will always be there, Constant and complete. Run to me, reach out for me, and I will love you in a unique and tender way. Bring your love to me, share your love with me, sing your love to me, and I will offer you peace, ease and comfort.” "The Privileged Lovers," Rumi “The moon has become a dancer at this festival of love. This dance of light, this sacred blessing, this divine love, beckons us to a world beyond, only lovers can see with their eyes of fiery passion. They are the chosen ones who have surrendered. Once they were particles of light, now they are the radiant sun. They have left behind the world of deceitful games. They are the privileged lovers who create a new world with their eyes of fiery passion.” "How Do I Love Thee?," Elizabeth Barrett Browning How do I love thee? Let me count the ways. I love thee to the depth and breadth and height My soul can reach, when feeling out of sight For the ends of being and ideal grace. I love thee to the level of every day's Most quiet need, by sun and candle-light. I love thee freely, as men strive for right. I love thee purely, as they turn from praise. I love thee with the passion put to use In my old griefs, and with my childhood's faith. I love thee with a love I seemed to lose With my lost saints. I love thee with the breath, Smiles, tears, of all my life; and, if God choose, I shall but love thee better after death. "[i carry your heart with me(i carry it in]," E.E. Cummings
i carry your heart with me(i carry it in my heart)i am never without it(anywhere i go you go,my dear;and whatever is done by only me is your doing,my darling) i fear no fate(for you are my fate,my sweet)i want no world(for beautiful you are my world,my true) and it’s you are whatever a moon has always meant and whatever a sun will always sing is you here is the deepest secret nobody knows (here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud and the sky of the sky of a tree called life;which grows higher than soul can hope or mind can hide) and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart "Stardust," Lang Leav If you came to me with a face I have not seen, with a name I have never heard, I would still know you. Even if centuries separated us, I would still feel you. Somewhere between the sand and the stardust, through every collapse and creation, there is a pulse that echoes of you and I. When we leave this world, we give up all our possessions and our memories. Love is the only thing we take with us. It is all we carry from one life to the next. 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. By Carrie Stadtmueller, Content Conductor Ok, now that you have said “Yes” - what’s the next step? Of course, everyone really wants to fast forward to all of the fun stuff – cake tastings, Pinterest surfing for reception decor, finding the perfect dress - but the best and smartest next step should be setting and sticking to your wedding budget. We know. This next step can be a real B. Whether you’re working with $100 or $100,000 (wow, wouldn’t that be a dream??), the general guidelines are the same. First Things First – Think about what kind of wedding you want This might be the easiest part of the whole process. Perhaps you’ve been dreaming about your wedding day since you were a little girl. But, if not - it’s time to get to work. Now is the time to have those conversations with your partner and see if you are both on the same page when it comes to the kind of wedding that you both want. There are so many different kinds of weddings out there - do you both want the same kind of wedding? Perhaps your dream wedding is traditional, but theirs is a destination elopement. Or would you prefer low key and relaxed instead of their formal and high class? This is where you need to start. Planning a wedding can put a lot of stress on a relationship. Make sure you are both on the same page before moving forward. This may mean making some compromises. Figure Out Who Will Be Contributing Once you have decided what kind of wedding you will be planning, now decide how you plan to pay for it. Will you and your partner be covering most of the cost? Or will your families be helping? Whatever the case, finding out who might be contributing to your wedding is a good first step when you’re calculating your overall budget. It’s most helpful if you can get a handle on a nice “round” number or perhaps what aspect of the event the party will be covering. For example - will the groom’s family be paying for the rehearsal dinner as is tradition? Or perhaps you have a devoted Aunt who really wants to help cover the retainer for the photographer as part of her wedding gift. These conversations can be awkward, but they will be helpful in the long run as you make large financial decisions. Crunch, Crunch, Crunch the Numbers - Including Your Number of Guests Now is where the the math comes in and where you need to get serious about figuring out how much you have to actually spend. Figure out how much you can realistically and comfortably spend. This is also the time where you will want to start making your guest list. The number of guests you intend to invite will ultimately have an effect on your budget’s bottom line. Looking at your wedding as a “per-person” expenditure will help with this process. Take this number and begin negotiations By now, you and your partner will be pros at compromising and negotiating - especially if you had differing opinions on what your “dream wedding” looked like. Use those skills to negotiate what items to prioritize when it comes to staying within your budget. Make it an exercise - each of you can pick two things that are at the top of your wedding priority list. Budget for those items. Everything else is extra until the budget is maxxed out. Savvy Brides Do Their Research There are a lot of hidden costs when it comes to weddings. Savvy brides do their research and find ways to save money. Even smarter brides realize that hiring a wedding planner can ultimately help you save money in the long run. (see this link on why you should hire a wedding planner). Wedding planners provide so much business to vendors, they are often able to negotiate discounts for their clients. They are also well versed at helping couples set budgets and are masters at sticking to them. At the end of the day….. One thing to remember - at the end of the day, the most important thing is that you will be married to the love of your life. It won’t matter if you have steak and shrimp or the most expensive dress. What matters is that you will be together. Don’t start out your new life together drawing in debt. You can still plan a beautiful and memorable wedding on a much smaller and affordable scale. There are ways to plan a champagne wedding on a beer budget - you just have to get creative. You focus on the feeling of the event, instead of the price tag. Here are some practical tips as you start planning:
Again, remember - its who you’re marrying and the memories you make together that are important, not the wedding and the money you spend. Contact MBD Marketing & Events
